Learning Objective

- Introduction and understanding of

a medium and technique.
- Using range of techniques, and
perceive and express elements
and principles of art.
15
You all are somewhat familiar with the
process of shading with a pencil, but not
everyone knows the drawing techniques
for creating value with a pen.
The term 'pen and ink' denotes a drawing technique involving the
use of black and other coloured inks which are applied to a support
(generally paper) with either a dip pen or a reservoir pen.

17
Can you name any “old master” who
created many drawings using
“Pen & Ink” technique?

In art history, "Old Master" refers to any

painter of skill who worked in Europe
before about 1800,

18
Leonardo Da Vinci

19
There is an endless amount of pen and ink
techniques and today you will be exploring four
most common techniques of pen and ink.

20
These techniques include:

1. Stippling
2. Linear Hatching
3. Cross hatching
4. scumbling/ random lines

21
22
It’s time to create
value, form & texture
through
pen & ink techniques.
(2 sessions)

23
You will need:
1. Cartridge paper
2.Pencil
3.Ruler
4.Black pointer

24
Let’s begin by making 4 squares and a circle on one half of
your cartridge sheet. Each square should be 3” X 3” and

square by exploring different “Pen & Ink”
techniques.
3. Do not forget to label the techniques.
4. Select any Pen & Ink technique and convert
circle into a sphere(form) by showing your
understanding of the technique(Refer to slide
22).
27
Success Criteria:
✘ I am able to make a template as instructed.
✘ I am able to create three different
values(light, medium & dark) in each
square.
✘ I can name different pen & ink techniques.
✘ I am able to create a sphere exploring my
favorite technique.
