kingdom was divided into seven administrative

territorial entities:
o Asir Province
o Al Hasa' Province
o Hejaz Province
o Najd Province
o Rub' al-Khali Province

o Regional systems was a royal order issued by the King Fahd bin
Abdulaziz Al Saud
o This order stated for kingdom to be divided into 13 emirates.
o The previous provinces stated above were divided into 13
geographic regions called provinces (manatiq) and
administrative regions, called the emirates of the provinces
(imarat al-manatiq).
o In 1993, King Fahd named 210 members to the provincial
councils
o In 2005, municipal elections were held for half of the members
of each of the 178 municipal councils in the Kingdom
