Designing and Implementing a Campus
Ticket Booking System
BACKGROUND
Universities often organize various events, including lectures,
workshops, concerts, and sports matches. Managing ticket sales and
attendance for these events manually can be cumbersome and
inefficient. Therefore, implementing a campus ticket booking system
can streamline the process, enhance user experience, and ensure
efficient utilization of resources.
Problem Statement
The current manual ticket booking process is time-consuming, prone to
errors, and lacks real-time tracking capabilities. This leads to
inconvenience for both event organizers and attendees, resulting in
suboptimal event management and customer satisfaction.
Proposed Solution
Developing a comprehensive campus ticket booking system that allows
users to browse, book, and manage tickets for various campus events
through a user-friendly web or mobile interface. The system will also
include features such as real-time ticket availability updates, secure
payment processing, and event attendance tracking.
Project Objective(s)
• Create an Event Management System to enhance the efficiency and
effectiveness of event management on campus
• To improve the user experience for both event organizers and
attendees
Scope
The scope of the project includes:
• Designing the system architecture and user interface
• Implementing core features such as event listing, ticket booking,
payment processing, and attendance tracking
• Testing the system for functionality, usability, and security
• Deploying the system on the campus network
Justification
A campus ticket booking system will significantly improve the efficiency
of event management on campus, leading to better utilization of
resources, increased revenue from ticket sales, and enhanced user
satisfaction. Moreover, it aligns with the digital transformation
initiatives of the university and reflects its commitment to providing
modern, convenient services to its stakeholders.
Literature Review
A review of existing literature on ticket booking systems, event
management software, and user interface design will be conducted to
identify best practices and potential challenges in implementing the
proposed system.
Methodology
The project will follow the iterative software development process,
including requirements gathering, system design, implementation,
testing, and deployment. Agile methodologies such as Scrum will be
employed to ensure flexibility and responsiveness to changing
requirements.
RESOURCES
• Human resources: Project team members including developers,
designers, and testers
• Hardware resources: Servers for hosting the system
• Software resources: Development tools, frameworks, and libraries
• Data resources: Event data, user data, and transaction data
BUDGET
The budget for the project is estimated as follows:
1. Developers: $X
2. Designers: $Y
3. Testers: $Z
4. Software Licenses: $A
5. Server Hosting Expenses: $B per month
6. Contingency: 10% of total budget

RISKS AND MITIGATIONS
1. Risk: Integration challenges with existing systems - Conduct thorough
compatibility testing and utilize modular design principles.
2. Risk: Additional features requested by stakeholders - Define clear project
scope and prioritize requirements based on business value.
3. Risk: Insufficient manpower or expertise - Hire additional resources or
leverage external expertise through partnerships or outsourcing.
4. Risk: Data breaches or cyberattacks - Implement robust security measures,
conduct regular security audits, and stay updated on industry best practices.
5. Risk: Resistance to change or low user adoption - Provide comprehensive
training and support, involve users in the design process, and communicate
the benefits of the new system effectively.
