• Market is a place where sellers and buyers
gather to do business.
• Marketing of agricultural produce involves all
activities performed in the movement of
agricultural goods and services from the
point of production until they get to the
consumers.
• MARKETING ACTIVITIES
• Farm level processing which involves preservation of
farm products by improving their shelf life.
• Grading and sorting of agricultural products based on
accepted criteria.
• Packaging of agricultural products in their
appropriate container based on their weight and size.
• Storage to protect them from loss, ensure adequate
supply of raw materials, ensure regular supply of
food all year round etc.

products.

community which serve as an outlet for agricultural
produce.
• Larger market involves marketing boards and co-
operative societies, who engages licensed buyers to
buy from producers and sell to agro-based industries as
raw materials.

government organizing, supervising and
encouraging the production of certain crops like
cassava, maize, groundnut etc, which are then
exported to other countries.
