I – Inference/General context clues
Look for: non-specific clues, often
spread out over several sentences.
 “The haberdashery was Bright’s favorite place. He
loved shopping for nice suits. The people who
worked there were so kind and helpful.”
 “Exercise is beneficial for many reasons. First, it
helps a person to stay fit. Next, it’s good for a
person’s mental health. It’s also useful to help
manage weight.”
D – Definition

 “Haberdashery, which is a store that sells men’s


clothing, is becoming more common today.”

 “Exercising is beneficial and is good for you.”


E – Example

Use words like ‘including’, ‘such as’, & ‘for


example’.

dragons are in fantasy stories.”

industry including acting, dancing, and
entertaining.”
A – Antonym
Keywords: but, unlike, however, instead
