• TRIPLEX • DUPLEX Determine Pump Caracteristics: • Liner Size • Pump Stroke (length) NOW ! Determine bbls per stroke •Pump Output, bbls. per minute = bbls. Per stroke X number of strokes per minute CALCULATING PUMP OUTPUT CALCULATING PUMP OUTPUT CALCULATING PUMP OUTPUT • Only One Single Acting Cylinder volume = ID² x L 1029.4 ID = inches L = foot (inches / 12) That means 8² x 10/12 = 8² x 10 = 0.00008095 x (8² x 10) 1029.4 1029.4 x 12
And for 3 cylinders we have 3 x 0.00008095 x (8² x 10) = 0.0002428 x
(8² x 10) = 0.1554 But the pump is delivering with 90% efficiency so the final displacement (out put) volume = 0.1554 x 90/100 = 0.1399 bbls / min Same calculation for Duplex pump single acting but use 2 cylinders. If the Triplex or the Duplex pump is double acting so the formula will be as mentioned before for Duplex and use same path for Triplex (of course you should know the ROD diameter).
