Proteoglycans are proteins attached to polysaccharides


called glycoaminoglycans.

Glycoaminoglycans are more polysaccharides like and make


up 95% of proteoglycans.

Glycoaminoglycans contain derivative of amino sugar and


a negatively charged carboxylate or sulfate group.

Proteoglycans function as joint lubricants and structural


components of connective tissue.

Function in extracellular marix.
