This is the book about life
and sufferings of Jesus
Christ. It is read only
during lent. There were 4

With the advent of
education in the
Philippines, Americans
influenced Filipino writers
to write using English
Language.
Many Filipinos started
writing again and the
nationalism of the people
remain undaunted.

AMERICAN REGIME
Filipino writers went
into all forms of
literature like news
reporting, poetry,
stories, plays, essays
and novels. Their
writings depicted their
love of country.

LITERATURE
JAPANESE PERIOD
During the Japanese period, the invaders saw to it that Filipino movements
be limited. The writers stop wielding pens and started wielding guns.
Philippine literature in English came to a halt. Except for the TRIBUNE
and PHILIPPINE REVIEW, almost all the newspapers in English were
stopped by the Japanese. The only contact with the outside world was done
with utmost secrecy through the underground radio program called
“VOICE OF FREEDOM”

meet the need and tastes of the new generation.
21st century learners are demanded to be ICT
inclined to compete with the style and format of
writing as well. New codes or lingos are used to
add flavor in the literary pieces produced
nowadays.
