Raw Water in let

All metals corrode including Stainless Steel and Copper, but the rate may varies
according to the metal and its environment.
Water heater storage tanks too corrode and this happens due to combined effect of :-

Exposed of Weld Points to raw water, two different metal while welding ,alters the properties of
the metal

Water quality, dissolved salts and gases in water

Flaws in metal e.g.. Grinding Mark

High inlet pressure

Variation in water temperature, creates stress on metal

One simple way to prevent corrosion is inhibit the availability of oxygen at the metal
surface - in the absence of oxygen, the corrosion reaction stops.

One way to do this is to apply a protective coating over the metal surface.
This creates a barrier between the metal and the surrounding oxygen.

The Solahart storage tank can be considered as a ceramic tank with a steel casing.
All Solahart tanks have an internal double layer ceramic lining, applied after all the
fabrication work on the tank is complete to ensure tank integrity.
The Solahart storage tank can be considered as a Ceramic Tank with a Steel Casing.

All Solahart tanks have an internal double layer ceramic lining, applied after all the
fabrication work on the tank is complete to ensure the tank integrity.

The double ceramic lining is fused to the steel casing at over 800°C, this ensures no
cracking or crazing of the lining under normal daily temperature variations and
pressures.

The second Primaglaze® coat has been specifically formulated to ensure that the tank
will withstand near boiling water over the life time of the tank, something that ordinary
water heater can not withstand.

Metals fused with ceramics have been used in some very extreme condition such as the
nose cones of NASA space shuttles.
The vessel is fully encased in pressure injected polyurethane foam,100% CFC free.

Smart insulation, Heavier insulation over the upper sections of the

vessel ensures that the hot water is kept hot for extended periods.
Lighter insulation over the lower sections of the vessel so that in
summer, if the total vessel contents reach 90°C, excess heat is
dissipated through the bottom one-third of the vessel. This
prevents over-heating of the system.

The insulation foam adheres to both the aluminum outer case and the surface of the
vessel thereby forming a vapor - tight skin. The skin ensures the polyurethane foam
retains its high insulating qualities that are not normally possible in free rise unsealed
foams. Similar benefits are not offered by blanket or free-rise form insulation types.
As hot water is drawn from a Solahart system, cold water is prevented
from mixing with hot water.
The incoming cold water enters the tank through a cone shaped strtifier,
which allow cold water entry very softly, which diminishes the diluting
effect of the cold water and helps in keeping HOT WATER HOT.

Another Solahart design feature - a special outlet scoop located at the

very top of the tank which ensures that the outflow water is taken from
the hottest point.
Water Startifier

Effectively removes inertia from water without

pressure reduction

Allows incoming cold water to be placed in the

bottom of vessel without mixing or disturbing the
hot water layer.

Enhances the hot water delivery of the system

Hartgard also works to protect the closed circuit against
corrosion. It contains a small amount of a substance known a
As a ‘buffer’ which inhibits its corrosion. The buffer or
Inhibitor prevents the circuit from becoming ‘acidic’.

Hartgard is non-toxic. The major component, propylene glycol is actually a

USP food grade product. The blue color of Hartgard is derived from a food
dye.

Once the closed circuit is sealed, the fluid becomes stable. Because oxygen
and other substances are excluded from the closed circuit, there is no need
for any servicing or recharging of the Hartgard
of the Hartgard.
The major component of Hartgard, propylene glycol has a boiling point of 188˚C. At very
high temperature it can oxidize. But in the closed circuit of a Solahart solar water heater
two factors ensure this does not occur. First, the oxygen presence during recharging quickly
by the buffer present in the Hartgard,
Secondly, because the closed circuit is sealed, there is no ongoing supply of oxygen to
"feed" the oxidization reaction. This means that even under very high temperature
Hartgard remains stable.

Storage Tank Outer Casing

The external case of the storage tanks and heat exchangers are made from two sheets
of aluminum that are lock seamed together. The top section is 0.4 mm thick with a stucco
finish and the base has a brush finish and is 0.7 mm thick.

The material used for the end covers is polypropylene, this gives excellent stability under
prolonged exposure to ultra-violet rays, and high temperatures. It retain its toughness
and flexibility without cracking in sunlight or at temperatures between -20°C to 104°C.

Polypropylene End Cap

The Solahart storage tank is protected from the weather and UV radiation by an
aluminum casing and Polypropylene ends.
Decades of manufacture and use have shown that the casing is strong and very durable,
even in coastal locations.

Magnesium Anode
All Solahart tanks are fitted with magnesium anodes to protect the tank and the booster
from corrosion. It is a universal approach to protect from corrosion. Anodes are employed
in oil rigs and ships to protect from corrosion. The life of anode depends on the quality of
the water. Solahart anodes last for more than 12 years.
