INTRODUCTION

The field of adult learning was introduced by Malcolm Knowles. It is


a new area of study which involves understanding how adult learns
best as compare to children and teens team.
Malcolm Knowles a pioneer in the study of adult learning observed
that adults learn best when:
 They understand why something is important to know or do.
 They have freedom to learn in their own way.
 Learning is experimental.
 The time is right for them to learn.
 The process is positive and encouraging.
DEFINITION

 Adult learning is defined as the range of formal, non


formal and informal learning activities which are
undertaken by adults after a break, since leaving
education and training and which results in the
acquisition of new knowledge and skills.
NEEDS OF ADULT LEARNING

 To enlarge the cultural span of the individuals.


 For healthy recreation and relaxation. Properly planned
program of social education will provided.
 Political consciousness and civil participation.
 Social efficiency and cooperation.
 Economic betterment and self sufficient.
