Methotrexate Vs Cyclosporine
Psoriasis
Treatment Regimes
The initial dose of methotrexate was 15 mg per week (given in three divided
doses with a 12-hour interval between doses, and the initial dose of
cyclosporine was 3 mg per kilogram of body weight per day (given in two
divided doses).
After four weeks of treatment, the doses were increased, up to 22.5 mg per
week in the case of methotrexate and 5 mg per kilogram per day in the case of
cyclosporine, in patients in whom the reduction from base line in the score for
the psoriasis area-and-severity index was less than 25 percent.

Discussion/Findings
Overall effectiveness and tolerability of both drugs was similar and good. Only
