. Our Attitude Determines Our Relationships With People
ll oI liIe is impacted by your relationships with people, yet
establishing relationships is diIIicult. The StanIord Research Institute
says that the money you make in any endeavor is determined only .5
percent by knowledge and 87.5 percent by your ability to deal with
others.
We must possess an attitude that places others Iirst:
Philippians 2.3-5 says 'Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory, but in
lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves. Look not every man
on his own things, but every man also on the things of others. We must see
people as important and learn to respect another`s viewpoint. Until we
walk in the other person`s shoes and see liIe through another`s eyes, we
will be like the man who angrily jumped out oI his car aIter a collision
with another car. WHY DOA'1 YOU POPL WA1CH WHR
YOU'R DRIJIAC?" H SHOU1D WILDLY. YOU'R 1H
FOUR1H CAR 1HA1'S HI1 1ODAY!"
Usually the person who rises within a ministry has a good
attitude. Being elevated in ministry does not give an individual an
outstanding attitude; but an outstanding attitude can result in being
elevated in ministry.

. Our Attitude Can 1urn Our Problems Into Blessings
In 'wake, My Heart, J. Sidlow Baxter wrote, 'What is the
diIIerence between an obstacle and an opportunity? It is our attitude
toward it. Every opportunity has a diIIiculty and every diIIiculty has
an opportunity. When conIronted with a diIIicult situation, a person
with an outstanding attitude makes the best oI it while he may get the
worst oI it. LiIe can be likened to a grindstone. Whether it 'grinds you
down or 'polishes you up depends upon what you are made oI.
Kites rise against, not with the wind. When the adverse wind oI
criticism blows your way, allow it to be to you what the blast oI the
wind is to the kite it is a Iorce against it that lifts it higher!

. Our Attitude Can Propel Our Faith 1o Aew Dimensions
For example, in ancient Israel when Goliath came up against the
Hebrews, the soldiers all thought, 'he`s so big we can never kill him.
David looked at the same giant and thought, 'he's so big I can't miss!"
People in ministry with good, positive attitudes are like
bumblebees. ccording to the theory oI aerodynamics, the bumblebee
should be unable to Ily. Because oI the bumblebee`s size, weight and
shape oI its body, in relationship to its total wing span - Ilying is
scientiIically impossible. But the bumblebee being ignorant oI
scientiIic theory, goes right ahead and Ilies anyway; making honey in
the process every day!
In ministry no matter what obstacles we meet that makes our
goals seem impossible, we can move Iorward by the wings oI Iaith and
experience the honey oI worship everyday.

. Our Attitude Is Aot Automatically Cood Because We Are Christians
It is noteworthy that the seven deadly sins pride, covetousness,
lust, envy, anger, gluttony, and sloth are all matters oI attitude, inner
spirit, and motives. OIten people overlook the true meaning oI the
story oI the prodigal son. They Iorget that there are not one but two
prodigals. The younger brother is guilty oI the sins oI the Ilesh,
whereas the elder brother is guilty oI the sins oI the spirit. His problem
is his attitude. t the end oI the parable, it is the elder brother the
second prodigal who is outside the Iather`s house. This is a good
lesson Ior all oI us to remember. poor attitude will take us places we
dont want to go. Sometimes it can even take you completely out oI the
game. On the other hand, a good attitude puts you in the place oI
greatest victory!
Remember the words oI Philippians :8; Paul describes the secret
to having a 'joy that is greater than liIe`s diIIiculties. He says:
Brothers and sisters, think about the things that are good and worthy
of praise. 1hink about the things that are true and honorable and
right and pure and beautiful and respected. (ACJ)
The key to having a good attitude is the willingness to change.
Care about each person in the ministry. inistry will improve when
each part is determined to focus on the others strengths as opposed to
focusing on the others weaknesses. Let`s build on strengths and not
Iocus on weaknesses.
