I believe that religion is one oI the most known political cultures not only in today`s society, but in past
societies as well. The United States was Iounded on religion. In this picture a prayer was being said beIore a
congress meeting. There are many types oI religion, and most oI society belongs to a religious group oI some
sort.

Domestic Violence is a policymaking system. There are groups such as OVW ( OIIice on
Violence against Women ) a component oI the U.S. Department oI Justice. This was created in
1995. OVW administers Iinancial and technical assistance to develop programs, policies and
practices aimed at ending domestic violence. I think this is a good example oI policymaking
system because people have spoken up about this issue and that has lead to laws being made to
protect victims oI domestic violence.

The SSA ( Social Security Act ) was created in 1935. The SSA administers the retirement, survivors, and
disabled workers their spouses and children monthly beneIits. I think SSA is public policy because the SSA
protects us when we need that monthly income that we cant get Irom working.

Same Sex ,arrlage
In NJ a lawsuit was Iiled Ior same-sex marriage. Their main argument is that in 2006 the
supreme court ruled that same-sex couples should be guaranteed the same rights as heterosexual
married couples. But in a 4-3 vote leIt it up to the legislature to achieve that. The minority in that
decision said the state needed to allow marriage Ior same-sex couples. This is a big issue in the
news right now and I believe that the majority rule applies to this subject.
