SUSTAINING
PROGRAM

WHAT IS SUSTAINABLE
PROGRAM?
• Program sustainability has traditionally been
viewed narrowly as. the act of decreasing
dependence on one source of funding and shifting
financial support for program implementation to a
new funding stream. In reality, program and
organizational sustainability is a much more
complex and dynamic process.
• The Philippines is implementing programs like
"Inclusive Education for All" to support inclusive
education, providing training to teachers, parents,
and administrators. Additionally, policies like
Special Education (SPED) schools are being
developed to cater to students with special needs.
SUSTAINING PROGRAMS
ESTABLISHMENTS OF 276 SPECIAL
EDUCATION CENTER NATIONWIDE
• The established program aims to build 276 special
education centers across the country, providing tailored
support and education to students with disabilities. The
centers will be strategically located, equipped with
specialized resources and skilled personnel, and will
promote students' academic, social, and emotional
growth. Collaboration with local governments and
advocacy organizations is important.
PROVISION OF SPED ITEMS
• Special Education (SpEd) items provide necessary
resources for students with disabilities, such as adaptive
technology and specialized materials. These items
promote an inclusive learning environment, promoting
academic, social, and emotional growth. Collaborating
with families, professionals, and stakeholders ensures
effective implementation, empowering students with
disabilities to reach their full potential.
DOWNLOADING OF FUNDS
• "Downloading of funds" is the process of allocating
financial resources from higher government levels to
lower authorities or institutions, often for specific
programs or initiatives. It requires careful planning,
budgeting, oversight, transparency, accountability, and
effective communication between all levels of
government and stakeholders to ensure the funds are
utilized effectively and maximize their impact.
CONDUCT OF TRAINING PROGRAMS
FOR TEACHERS HANDLING CHILDREN
WITH VARIOUS DISABILITIES
• Training programs for teachers working with children with
disabilities are crucial for inclusive education. These programs
cover topics like understanding disabilities, accommodating
diverse learning needs, implementing IEPs, using assistive
technology, managing behavioral challenges, and fostering
inclusive classroom environments. Continuous professional
development opportunities enhance teaching practices.
Collaboration between educators, special education
professionals, and stakeholders is essential for designing
comprehensive training programs.
DEVELOPMENT OF INSTRUCTIONAL
MATERIALS FOR CHILDREN WITH
DISABILITIES
• Inclusive education involves developing instructional
materials for children with disabilities, ensuring they have
access to effective learning resources. These materials
accommodate diverse learning styles, abilities, and needs,
providing alternative formats and individualized
approaches. Collaboration between educators, curriculum
specialists, and accessibility experts is crucial for creating
engaging, accessible, and aligned materials that enhance
learning experiences and promote academic progress.
CONDUCT OF ADVOCACY STRATEGIES LIKE THE SPED
CARAVAN IN REGIONS AND DIVISIONS WITHOUT SPED
CENTERS OR WITHOUT SPED PROGRAMS
• The Special Education (SpEd) caravan is a proactive approach
to raise awareness and promote inclusivity in regions without
SpEd centers or programs. It mobilizes resources, expertise,
and stakeholders to visit communities without SpEd centers,
educating them about inclusive education and the need for
SpEd services. The caravan also provides networking
opportunities and capacity-building among educators,
empowering them to advocate for children with disabilities'
rights and needs.
IMPLEMENTATION OF VARIOUS
INTERVENTION PROGRAMS
• Intervention programs are proactive strategies designed to
support individuals with disabilities or learning difficulties. They
include early intervention for children, behavior management for
students, literacy intervention for struggling readers, and
vocational training for adults. These programs aim to enhance
skill development, academic performance, social functioning, and
overall well-being. Collaboration between educators, healthcare
professionals, social workers, community organizations, and
families is crucial for successful implementation.
