Educational Requirements
Commercial airlines require their pilots to have at least 2 years of college. Most Airlines are now requiring applicants to have at least a degree in Aeronautical Science, Aeronautical Engineering, Mathematics, or maybe even Physics. A lot of experienced pilots and engineers come from the Armed Forces. They are specially trained in the military.
Nature of Work
This is a very open ended topic because it all depends on the Aircraft you pilot. If you are in the military you can be piloting an Apache running missions, or you can work for Delta Airlines flying from Miami to New York City. 33% of Pilots dust crops which is kind of lame.
Working Conditions
You are in a cockpit for most of your career. If you are not in the cockpit you are probably in a desk managing other pilots or logging hours
Job Outlook
This job is growing at the projected average for all jobs. The best opportunities are for regional airlines in contrast to the larger corporation which is expected.
Advantages/Disadvantages
The major disadvantage is that you are always flying and you never really have time to settle. This can be difficult for having a family. The major advantages is that you can go anywhere in the world, if your in the military then every time you leave the country or your duty station its tax free, and you get flight pay. Uhmyou can say I fly planes.
Personal Skills
One must be a leader. Possibly a good talker in case of some crazy emergency. An enterpriser to get better routes.
