"We cannot stop natural
disasters but we can arm
ourselves with
knowledge: so many lives
wouldn't have to be lost if
there was enough
disaster preparedness." -
Natural disasters have been
terrorizing people and
animals from the beginning
of time. In this report the
discussion will be around
hurricanes and earthquakes.
This topic was picked
because both natural
disasters are some of the
most dangerous in this
world. In particular this
discussion will be about
danger and aftermath. (Hurricane Maria's
Aftermath: Photos Reveal
Devastation on Caribbean
Islands)
Danger is very important to
compare because it gives the
percentage of death. The number
of deaths of the strongest
hurricane recorded was twenty-
three(Hurricanes: Science and
Society). While the number of
deaths of the strongest
earthquake was one thousand six
hundred fifty-five. Which is a
huge difference where
earthquakes are much more
dangerous. (Valdivia Earthquake Strikes Chile)
In this paragraph discussion
will be about the aftermath
which will be calculated based
on how much property was
destroyed. In the strongest
hurricane the total amount of
property wasted is 4.2 billion.
Meanwhile the strongest
hurricane ever recorded
destroyed 4.8 billion. Where
there is an 800 million dollars
difference.
Finally, both factors were
compared and proven to show that
one earthquake occurring will
probably be more dangerous and
wasteful than hurricanes. But do
you think that earthquakes are
more dangerous?
