• Organization date: 1896
The NFPA is a non-profit organization based in
US. The NFPA is known for developing and
publishing a wide range codes and standards
related to fire prevention.

• Purpose
To establish establish consensus-based
standards to promote safety, protect lives, and
reduce the risk of fire and other hazards in
various settings, including buildings, industries,
and public spaces.

STEP 1. Call for Proposal
• Porposed new document or new edition of an existing
document is entered into one of two yearly revisions
cycles and a Call for Proposal is published.
STEP 2. Reports on Proposal (ROP)
• Committee or Panek meets to act on Proposals, to
develop its own Proposals, and to prepare its report
• Committee votes by written balot to approve its actions
on the Proposal. If approval is not obtained, the Report
returns to Committee
• If approved, the Report on Proposals(ROP) is published
for public review and comments.

to develop its own Comments, and to prepare its report

• Technical Committees consist of experts in the relevant
field and are responsible for drafting and revising
standards.
• Committee members follow a consensus-based
approach, considering input from all stakeholders.

• Notification of intent to file an appeal to the Standards
Council on Association action must be filed within 20
days of the Association Technical Meeting
