Engineering is quite different from Pure Science Scientists try to understand nature. Engineers try to make things that do not exist in nature

Engineering is the discipline of science where the knowledge of basic science is used for the welfare of the society.

One who practices engineering and is licensed to do so is called an Engineer (literally the one who operates an engine).

Engineering is apparently driven by the needs of society. There are many fine examples of long-surviving structures such as pyramids, aqueducts, bridges, walls, functional buildings, and so on. Remarkably these constructions were completed without the depth of analysis and understanding that is available today. The challenge to be more efficient in terms of space, materials, cost of ownership, etc. gets harder every year. But Engineering connection was there from Ancient Times.

Engineering can be an exciting career full of opportunities

Opportunities for leadership, global travel and benefiting humankind abound An engineering degree can open many doors to careers in other exciting areas such as M.Tech, law, business administration, PhD (research, teaching, etc.)

When the word Engineering strikes the mind of Common People

They think
Engineering students are trained to Serve the Society in a better scientific and technical way. Engineers are responsible for the things going on around us- e.g. Transportation System, Machineries, Pollution Control etc.

Common people are generally aware of the works of the Core Branches only.

Mechanical Electrical Civil Chemical Aerospace Computer Science Electronics Biotechnology Food Engg.

Interested in serving human needs Want to make things work better Able to adapt to a changing environment Strong teamwork skills Enjoy solving problems Desire to constantly learn new things Strong study skills Strong computer skills

In this technological age, the power of the engineers in shaping the society and environment in all pervading and can profoundly affect the lives of many members of the society. Engineers simply give society what it wants or can be persuaded to want.

Over building - too much of the land covered by concrete - when it rains, instead of water soaking into the ground to the water table, it runs off into drains that can't cope and causes flooding.

Loss of plant life, loss of wildlife; depending on the project soil erosion, pollution can also be serious problems.

People are getting lazier and lazier day by day!!!!

In rural areas, where there are very less electronic gadgets and so people there are pretty much less obese than people living in urban.
There are treadmills used by people around the world!!! So we cant blame technology entirely for making people lazy but in most of the fields it has made people much more lazier.

Miscalculation and wrong designing leads to failure without warning causing deaths of thousands of people in case of large projects.
