PROJECT GUIDE: M.CHOLAVENDAN. M.E.

Batch No 03

ABSTRACT
The project helps to organize patients coming to a clinic by speeding up the health check up process. The blood pressure, temperature and pulse of each patient waiting at the reception is measured and sent to the doctors system inside. Each patient entering the clinic is provided with a unique RFID card. This RFID number helps in identifying each patient to their corresponding biomedical readings being transmitted in from the reception. This reduces the time each patient spends with the doctor. The doctor can also review the previous records of the patient from the database. Incase, the doctor finds a severe abnormality in the biomedical readings being transmitted in, he can give preference to that patient by displaying his name in the LCD outside. In the normal conditions, he could prefer to call the patients in the order in which they had come to clinic.

HARDWARE USED
Spartan 3E Controller Analog to digital convertor RFID tag and reader Blood pressure, Pulse and Temperature sensor Max 232 PC LCD

RFID TAG
Patient coming to clinc for the first time are given a RFID tag. This tag identifies patient. Each time patient swipes the tag over the reader, the patient details are updated in the database.

REAL TAGS

PC8591 (ADC)
The output of temperature sensor is analog in nature This output of sensor is given to PC8591 which provides equivalent digital output This digital output can be given to the controller

MAX 232
Converts signals from an RS-232 serial port to signals suitable for use in TTL compatible digital logic circuits and vice versa MAX 232 provides an interface between controller and PC

LCD DISPLAY
Displays the name of the next patient or the emergency call to be called in The content to be displayed cannot be given directly. Instead corresponding hexadecimal code has to be given. Eg : the code below displays spec ece (x"53",x"50",x"45",x"43",x"20",x"45",x"43",x"4 5")

SENSORS
Here Blood pressure, temperature and pulse sensor are for basic measurements. The blood pressure sensor is readily available in the market as citizen ch4

FPGA TYPES

1. SRAM based 2. Anti-fuse based

INTERNAL FPGA ARCHITECTURE

ADVANTAGES
It performs basic check ups in the entry itself there by reducing the time duration for each patient Regular patients (who come to check BP etc) would be greatly benefitted. The doctor can also keep track of the previous records of patients which shows the effectiveness of given treatment.

ADVANTAGES
It can give priority to patients depending on their health conditions Simple to handle record of patients.

FUTURE ENHANCEMENTS
At present all the decisions (giving priority to patient) are made by doctor only. In future this can be automated where the computer itself makes decision. Patient coming to the clinic for the first time has to be assigned a RFID tag and then their records are stored and tracked. In future this is done by finger prints which eliminates tedious process.

FUTURE ENHANCEMENTS

The number of sensors can also be increased (say motion sensor and sugar level measuring sensor) which widens the scope of monitoring
