May be the nation is expanding rapidly but villages or rural areas are still lacking & are far behind from cities, the villagers are more used to radio rather then T.V. even in today s world & it will cost much lesser as well. y Wall painting It is a common site in villages or rural areas for marketing any product & is effective as well. y On public transport Advertisement on public transport because villagers or the people from rural areas mostly use public transport for their mobility.
y Radio

y 4: Word to mouth It is the cheapest way & could prove more effective as well as profitable in case of rural areas or villages because people over there are more orthodox & they believe other s easily. y 5: Nukkad natak It is quite easy to grab the attention of villagers but on the same it is a hard game to make them understand so nukkad nataks will not only prove creative but also will be profitable in making the villagers understand & aware of the product. y 6: Print media Banners & posters at crowd gathering areas like vegetable market, banks, post offices, bus stops, gram sabhas, etc. y 7: Focusing more on special schemes & tariffs Should concentrate more on providing beneficiary schemes & tariffs to the villagers in order to attract them.

y The present coverage of e-choupal :- Today this

initiative of ITC has empowered the lives of people living in 10 states where 40,000 villages have 6,500 echoupals & around 4 million farmers have been empowered. The initiative taken up by ITC to help the degrading reputation of a farmer has surely made a huge difference to not only large but also medium & small scale farmers.

The current activities undertaken by e-choupal:

y ITC is transforming the way farmers do business & the

way rural market works by progressively linking the digital infrastructure to a physical network of rural business hubs & agro extension services. Company s strategic intend is to develop e-choupals a significant 2 way multidimensional delivery channel, effectively carrying goods or services out of & in to rural areas. y The network of 6,500 e-choupal centers spread across 40,000 villages has emerged as the gateway of an expanding spectrum of commodities leaving farms wheat, rice, pulses, soya, maize, spices, coffee & aquaproducts. The reverse flow carries FMCG, durables, automotive & banking services back to villages.

y ITC ltd. has provided computers & internet access in

The role of e-sanchalak:

the rural areas across several agricultural regions of the country, where the farmers can directly negotiate the sale of their produce with ITC ltd. This online access enables farmers to obtain information on mandi prices, & good farming practices & to place orders for agriculture inputs like seeds & fertilizers. This helps farmers improve the quality of their products, & helps in obtaining a better price. . Each ITC ltd kiosk having internet access is run by a sanchalak. ITC trained few farmers to manage the internet kiosk & made them echoupal sanchalak

y Today they are a community of e-farmers with the

access to daily prices of a variety of crops in India & abroad, this helps them to get the best price. They can also find out about many other important things like weather forecasts, the latest farming techniques, crop insurance, etc. The computer is housed in the sanchalak s home & is linked to the internet via phone lines or by VSAT connection. Each installation serves an average of 600 farmers in the surrounding 10 villages within about a 5 km radius. The sanchalak bears some operating cost but in return earns a service fee for the e-transactions done through his e-choupal

Problems in E-Chuapal:
y Computer Literacy y Electricity Problem y No support by Mahajan y Less familiarity with electronic gadgets. y User friendly Interface y Improper knowledge of rural market y Lack of rules and regulations
