WHAT IS A BUSINESS PITCH?
A business pitch is a concise and compelling
presentation or proposal that outlines the key element
of a product, service or business idea with the aim of
persuading potential investor, partners or costumers.
SLIDE ONE: YOUR LOGO
TELL YOUR STORY – present a story pitch orally, it
should be precise. Explain or narrate your journey/ your
story is all about.
SET THE HOOK – usually it is an extraordinary point in
the story. A climax. Or a mini climax
ELEVATOR PITCH - is an entrepreneurs attempt to
convince a venture capitalist that your business idea is
worth investing in.
Basically it is a brief introduction of your startup
Slide 2: UNMET NEED
UNMET NEED – Refers to the wants and desires of
consumers that are not currently being fulfilled by
existing products or services
PROBLEM STATEMENT – Defines a problem and
identifies what a solution would look like.
To build a good case for the problem is not just to state a problem. You should
also build an engaging story around that problem – ONE THAT PEOPLE CAN
RELATE.
SLIDE 3: YOUR UNIQUE SOLUTION
This slide may consist of your solution to the problem.
It can be your product, a function, an easy access
worry free and customer friendly solution or the
services you offer
This slide is where you introduce the answer to the
problem you’ve outlined.
This slide should clearly communicate what your
product or service is, how it works, and why it’s the
perfect solution for the issue at hand.
SLIDE 4: TARGET MARKET SIZE
TARGET MARKET – Is a specific group of potential
customers who a business aims to reach with its product of
services. This group may share common characteristics such
as age, gender, income level, location that make them more
likely to be interested in and purchase from a business.
MARKET GROWTH– refers to the increase in the size of a
specific market over a specific period. This growth can be
measured in terms of revenue(sales), volume (no. of units
sold), or market share. Market growth is an indicator of the
attractiveness and potential profitability of a market.
SLIDE 5: YOUR BUSINESS MODEL
BUSINESS MODEL – it is a company’s profit making
plan. It defines the products or services it will sell, its
target market and any expected costs or expenses.
SLIDE 6: GO-TO-MARKET & SALES STRATEGY
GO – TO – MARKET STRATEGY - Is a plan of
organization, utilizing your outside resources, to deliver
your unique value proposition to customers and to
achieve a competitive advantage. Simply it is an
organizational roadmap for launching a new product or
services. It outlines your ideal customers, how you’ll
reach them, and how to stand out from the competition.
Defining your target audience, messaging, and sales
channels increase your chances of successful launch and
sustainable growth.
SLIDE 7: COMPETITION
Before you pitch, do your home work and research
your competitors. Identify their strengths and
weaknesses, their target markets and segments, their
pricing and positioning, and their unique selling points.
This will help you anticipate what questions you may
get and how to answer them with facts and evidence.
SLIDE 8: FINANCIAL PROJECTIONS
FINANCIAL PROJECTIONS – are the foundation of a
financial pitch deck. It should include REVENUE,
EXPENSES, and CASH FLOW PROJECTIONS for at least
3 – 5 years, as well as key metrics such as GROSS
MARGIN, NET INCOME, and BREAK – EVEN ANALYSIS.
This is basically your company’s estimate or forecast
of its financial performance at some point in the
future.

accomplishments. It is crucial for building credibility and

A company Timeline slide in your pitch deck is more
than just a chronological list of events. It serves
several key purposes and development of your
company over time.

SLIDE 11: THE ASK
The ASK slide – or FUNDING SLIDE is where you make your
pitch concrete. It is your opportunity to clearly communicate
how much funding you need, how you’ll use it and what
investors can expect in return.
At its core, this slide answers 3 critical questions:
1. How much are you raising?
2. How will you use the funds?
3. What milestone will these funds help you achieve?
4. How much will the investor expect in return?
