STEP 1: BUSINESS REGISTRATION

Under business registration it involves the following:


1. Choose a business name: Select a unique name for
your business and ensure its not already registered.
2. Register with the Registrar General: Submit your
business name and required documents to the Registrar
General’s office.
3. Obtain a certificate of Incorporation: Receive your
certificate of Incorporation which confirms your business
registration
STEP 2: BUSINESS LICENSING

Under licensing, it also includes the following:


1. Determine Required Licenses : Identify the necessary
licenses for your business, such as a trading license, tax
license, or industry-specific licenses.
2. Apply for Licenses : Submit applications for the
required licenses to the relevant authorities.
3. Pay License Fees : Pay the necessary fees for each
license.
STEP 3: TAX REGISTRATION

1. Register for Tax: Register your business with the


Malawi Revenue Authority (MRA) for tax purposes.
2. Obtain a Taxpayer Identification Number (TPIN):
Receive your TPIN, which is required for tax compliance.
STEP 4: OPENING A BUSINESS BANK
ACCOUNT

1. Choose a Bank : Select a reputable bank in Malawi to


open a business bank account.
2. Provide Required Documents : Submit the necessary
documents, including your Certificate of Incorporation
and TPIN.
3. Open a Business Bank Account : Successfully open a
business bank account.
STEP 5: COMPLIANCE WITH LABOUR LAWS

1.Register with the Ministry of Labour : Register your


business with the Ministry of Labour to comply with
labour laws
2. Obtain a Labour License : Obtain a labour license, if
required.
STEP 6: OBTAIN NECESSARY PERMITS

1.Determine Required Permits : Identify any additional


permits required for your business, such as environmental
permits or health permits.
2. Apply for Permits : Submit applications for the
necessary permits.
3. Pay Permit Fees : Pay the required fees for each
permit.
STEP 7: FINALIZE BUSINESS
OPERATIONS

1.Set Up Business Operations : Establish your business


operations, including hiring staff, setting up equipment,
and launching marketing efforts
2. Comply with Ongoing Regulations : Ensure ongoing
compliance with relevant regulations, such as tax laws,
labour laws, and environmental regulations.
