Carl Douglas was born in Jamaica, 1942, and grew up between Jamaica and California, then he eventually moved to England to study Sound Engineering. But only in 1974, two years after he had worked in the soundtrack of the film Embassy to the Indian music producer: Biddu; when Carl Douglas was writing about the arts martial craze, which was sweeping the United States in 70s, he released his best music: Kung-fu fighting.

That Music were written in ten minutes and made Carl Douglas to become the first Jamaican singer to mark the position as the first hit song in USA. Kung-fu fighting has also been featured in films like Rush Hour 3, Daddy Day Care, Bowfinger, Beverly Hills Ninja, Mortal Thoughts, Spirit of the 76 and Kung-Fu Panda.
