Born: December 8, 1861. Boston, Massachusetts,U.S. Died: March 18, 1947(aged85) New York, New York,U.S. About him: William Crapo "Billy" Durant(December 8, 1861 March 18, 1947) was a leading pioneer of theUnited Statesautomobileindustry, the founder of General MotorsandChevroletwho created the system of multi-brand

Late one evening, William C. Durant, the founder of General Motors (GM), walked into his bank after banking hours, and asked for some work to be done, which ideally should have been requested during banking hours. While others did not take the trouble to serve him, the man who served Mr.Durant after banking hours was Carol Downes, an executive of the bank. Mr.Downes had created a growth opportunity for himself by serving his customer well. The next day, William Durant asked Downes to come to his office. Mr. Durant offered Downes a position in his office which was happily accepted by Downes. Several months later, Downes was informed that he had been chosen to go out to a new plant to supervise the installation of the plant machinery. Thus, Downes, a former bank official, became a machinery expert in a few months. Although he did not know anything about installation of

Downes had created one more growth opportunity by whole-heartedly accepting a challenge. Three months later, the job was done so well that Mr. Durant asked him where he learned about machinery. I never learned, Mr. Durant. I merely found men who knew how to do the job, put them to work, and they did it. Downes explained. Mr. Durant told Downes that he was promoted as the new manager of the plant and his salary to start with would be $50,000 a year. Downes had created one more growth opportunity by not only succeeding in his assignment, but also sharing credit and focusing on his role as a contributive-manager.

Mr.Downes ,an executive officer of a bank, served to the person who is founder of that bank. He thought that he should serve the person who gave him a chance as an executive officer in a bank and due to that person, he was there. So, he had not forgot that person who has done key role for his existing position. He had also that kind of nature to serve the customer after banking hours also and this would be great step for his life. Due to such kind of nature he became a personal assistant of Mr.Willliam Durant and done his job well. After seeing his performance, he was asked to join a new plant as a machinery in charge. Here, he didnt know anything about machinery but finally he had shown his performance. Here, he was ready to accept the new challenges rather than escaping. Thus, he created his opportunity by his virtual character

The Non-contributor rigidly sticks to his/her given job description and his/her comfort zone. She/he has an attitude like he/she can do some things well. We should not ask him/her for new things.

The Contributor is willing to try out and learn new things, diversify if needed, volunteer for new responsibilities, take on new roles thus expanding his/her capacity. He/she believe that one must be willing to step out of ones comfort zone and try out newer roles. This will expand not only his/her skill set, but also his/her capacity to learn

SUJATA

He thinks about his performance also feels that he is here due to only his effort and also feels that he is the best amongst other teammates. He is bothering about new job challenges. He also feels the fear to win the trust of all juniors from which he will have take works.

From example-1: We should think about our responsibilities in the company rather than worrying about any kind of reward in the form of money and etc. we should not give more important than quality of work and our development in job. We should grab opportunities to face challenges and our own development are more important than salary and perks. From example-2: We should make our self purpose focused and willing to learn and do whatever it takes to serve the purpose. We should not be limited by our domain of training, and are unwilling to go beyond. You should grab the new job opportunity and not to worry about whether you can do or not that job. You should become multifunctional person.

From example-3: One should not feel too much dependable on which she/he has learned but understand that it would be best experience for him/her to do that job and worrying about final result whether itll be fruitful or not. Management has decided to take after long thinking so dont feel nervous and keep positive attitude in your life. From example-4: Dont feel proud if you are a part of a team member because after all all the work is actually executed by the whole team. Dont feel nervousness after selected for a higher post but you should ready to take new challenges and responsibilities without worrying about your capabilities.
