I grew up in the Midwest, a large town in a small city area. My parents divorced when I was young. I lived with my mother, and enjoyed a great deal of freedom in my youth.
When I was young, I ran the woods, swam the lakes, streams, and rivers, fishing, hunting, tracking, building forts, and skipping a lot of school. Still, I was always an avid reader, studied alternative histories, religions, and philosophies, and I always had the writing bug. As a teenager, my friends and I started a rock band, we started playing professional gigs when I was fifteen, school dances and other events. It was the nineteen seventies and we partied like rock stars. Wild times in a crazy period of history, like in many factory towns across the Midwest, from an already bygone era.
Right after high school I attended basic training for the Army Reserves, and went to community college after I came back home. College wasn't for me, I wound up going out to go out to California on an epic adventure that took a month to reach LA. In LA, I worked construction, made a lot of really good friends, and then wound up going into the Navy due to complications from my Army Reserves.
The Navy sent me back out to California, to the San Francisco Bay area, in the heart of what the locals like to call Silicon Valley. I worked on Aircraft for the Navy until my enlistment ended, then worked in Aerospace, Robotics, Pharmaceutical R&D, and managed to have a interesting career and many adventures.
I have yet to succeed at finding a woman to last the distance, several long term relationships, and searing affairs, but fate has seemed determined to keep me from finding the right one.
I do have a daughter, and enjoy being a dad. She has recently entered her teen years, and is now ready to spend her time with her friends, as it should be. We are close, and I think she will do well in life, having had a much more stable childhood than I did.view less
