This is a mother-daughter team of self-published authors. Our goal is to produce fun, wholesome, encouraging, or insightful stories for adults and children. We are passionate about the written word and believe a good story will fuel a similar passion in our readers.
A new aspect of our studio is our Second Page label. After receiving several requests, we established this branch to help with layout, design, and editing for small run, unique writing projects such as memoirs, family stories, children's books or wholesome fiction. The majority of our clients are not 'big star bound', but want a good looking, wholesome product they can share with friends and family.
The Writing Team:
NATALIE JAYNE
My relationship with writing might well be termed 'on-again off-again'. Then, about seven years ago, I encountered the Rivers. They are the fictional family in my humorous adventure series. They are a rowdy, loyal, sometimes annoying pack of brothers that simply will not turn me loose. Writing their story, along with that of the Caswell Crossing community, has become my passion. I cannot wait to see what sort of calamity my boys get into. I never know, you see, until I start to write. And then, there they are again, gabbling away at me whilst I scribble madly to keep up. Maybe it's true: if you love what you do, you will never work a day.
Hmm, what else about me? I run to the dyslexic side, which was a trial in my childhood and an utter joy now in my adulthood. I like to travel, enjoy woodworking, kayaking and photography. I'm not much for writing personal ads, which makes this particular section a might tricky for me. I've loaded planes, been a mason up on a mountain, an art director at a summer camp, a maintenance worker at a college (the first female crew member in 30 years, if you can believe it), a general ranch hand, an interpreter, an intervener, worked with special needs groups, a college tutor, a job coach and life skills instructor, a stall cleaner, a chicken chaser, and--- one of my more romantic jobs-- a primary provider of gravitational resistance for a single purpose traffic control device (for those of you without a decoder ring, that would be: holding up a stop sign as a flagger for highway maintenance).
As a side note to anyone out there who may have driven through my particular road construction site, I'd like to give a big thank you to those of you who, when faced with a fifteen minute delay in your holiday touring schedule, took the time to share your fresh cherries, bottled water, licorice ropes and friendly smiles. Of special note are the two women who, upon witnessing my feet doing a discrete jig of their own accord with my road sign as a partner, promptly responded by dancing a perfectly synched can-can with their own fingers up on the dashboard of their idling car. Now that was a laughably fun way to wait out a traffic stop. I hope they still get a chuckle over it these many years later as I do.
ROBIN KRUZIK
I see the world through the eyes of the children who are in my life. They give me the humorous slant, the freshness, wonder and silliness that are all so precious. For many years creative fodder has been riding around in the back files of my brain waiting for the opportunity to become a story or a poem; waiting for the chance to entertain others with the joys I've experienced. In my childcare experience, I have cared for over fifty children. Oh, if you could see my memory files! I've also worked as a nanny for twins, a preschool teacher for the infants and twos, Cub and Girl Scout leader, VBS teacher at church and been the house on the block where the other children gathered to played.
It was so quickly that my own four children grew up and left to make their own way. If there is a part of my life I could live over, it would be the years my children needed me to make their world right and just and happy. I miss that. My children have blessed me with eleven grandchildren and even more fodder files.
While raising my children, I also attended the local community college and earned an Associates of Art degree in English. Took over a million years, but when I opened the folder my certificate came in, a flood of emotions jumped out at me. All the struggles to accomplish graduating, of getting my work in on time even if the children need last minute cupcakes for school, or their special jeans washed after bedtime, or even threw up all night. Going to college was not easy, but rewarding when I read my name on the diploma. Later, I continued my schooling by studying Early Childhood Education. As a point of humor, some of my instructors had no children of their own. In later years, I met up with one of them later, after she had raised her own little ones. She hugged me and said, "I knew nothing, I'm sorry. Those little critters never read the books."
So now here I am in my retirement part of life, still finding children delightful and amusing. Once a week I am the story lady at a local toy store. What a delightful way to start my Thursday morning!view less
