Kaushik completed his Ph.D. degree in Civil {Geoenvironmental} Engineering in March, 2016 from Department of Civil Engineering, Dr B. R. Ambedkar National Institute of Technology (NIT) Jalandhar, Punjab. Dr. Kaushik has 50+ publications in his credit published in International Journals (10 research papers in referred and SCI Journals published by ASCE, Springer and Taylor & Francis etc.), International conferences (23 research papers) and National conferences (17 papers) (published as full length papers). Additionally, he is also serving as reviewer to many International Journals including the prestigious International Journal by ICE, U.K. ‘Proceedings of Institution of Civil Engineering – Waste and Resource Management’ and Journal of Geotechnical and Geological Engineering by Springer etc.
Dr. Kaushik was also invited by Department of Civil Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Delhi for carrying out research on “Fate (Transport, Retention, Deposition and Remobilization) of Silver Nanoparticles (AgNPs) in undisturbed saturated/unsaturated columns of different categories of soil, sand and different drainage materials” under the guidance of Prof. (Dr) Arun Kumar from 21st May to 13th July 2018 (≈ 2 months) where he successfully completed experimental studies related to the Transport, Retention and Deposition of Silver Nanoparticles (AgNPs) in three types of Indian soils and established the fact that the fate of AgNPs and their interaction with the natural matrix is influenced by many important factors such as preferential flow paths, oversaturation in the case of flood events, and processes such as dissolution, transformation, and aging in the natural environment etc. The morphological and colloid-chemical characterization of AgNPs attached to natural soil colloids is also of great importance in assessing the fate of AgNPs in the natural environment.
Dr. Kaushik also participated in 14 Short Term courses/Faculty development programmes/GIAN courses under TEQIP/FDP organized by IIT Delhi; NIT’s, State universities and reputed engineering colleges during last 14 years. Additionally, he has successfully organized three workshops “six days workshops on Stress Management with Personal Excellence” with Art of Living organization and Life Care Foundation, Jalandhar, Punjab during past ten years. Dr Kaushik also played key role as organizing committees Member for three national conferences DAVNCST-2013, DAVNCSTM- 2014 and DAVSTEHM -2016. For the 3rd National Congress on Science, Technology, Engineering, Humanities and Management (DAVSTEHM-2016) Dr. Kaushik successfully completed the responsibility of Faculty Coordinator; made fully responsible for the collection, review, formatting and acceptance of all research papers received for the conference related to Civil Engineering domain.
His research interests are multidisciplinary which includes the use of waste materials in different geotechnical and geoenvironmental engineering applications, hydraulic performance assessment of different size waste materials, UASB Reactor based wastewater treatment technologies, bioreactor landfill engineering, Green building certifications, bio-stabilization of organic fraction of MSW and Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) of different areas and development projects.
Dr. Kaushik is currently guiding one Ph.D. student, guided 05 M.Tech. students for their Thesis Work in addition to more than 150 B.Tech. students for 15 research projects. Dr. Kaushik successfully completed 07 in-house projects (for DAVIET and DAV University, Jalandhar; MC, Jalandhar; SarvhitKari Siksha Uthan Samiti, Jalandhar etc.) and many consultancy projects in the fields of Design of Sewage Treatment Plant for Jalandhar city (UASB Reactor based designing); Rainwater Harvesting System for DAVIET Campus; Sewage Treatment Plant for DAV Uni., Jalandhar (with M/s Indian Climate Control, Patiala); Green Campus Tag for DAVIET, Jalandhar; Groundwater abstraction studies (for approval from CGWB) for DAV Uni.; Physico-chemical analysis of Drinking water sample and Chemical analysis of Soil samples for the MGF Developments infrastructures limited, Jalandhar etc.
Dr. M. K. Kaushik is the recipient of the prestigious Best Teacher Award 2015 for “Excellent Academic Achievements and Meritorious Teaching” by the Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE), Best paper award for the National Congress “Advances in Civil Engineering” and many other awards at state and district level for his voluntary contributions in different social and student welfare activities. Dr. Kaushik had also played a crucial role as policy maker (proposal for Centre of Excellence in Environment & Climatology for DAV University, Jalandhar and upgradation of PG courses (M.Tech. Civil Engineering) of IKG –PTU, Kapurthala. Dr. Kaushik is having total experience of 15+ years in Teaching (Lecturer and Assistant Professor of Civil Engg in DAVIET, Jalandhar)and industry (1 year)view less
