She studied Drama and Opera at the University of South Africa and The Academy for Drama Art in Cape Town where she obtained her Licentiate in Drama Art. She trained as formal singer under various renowned vocal advisers in South Africa as well as abroad and did her Master Classes in Opera with Dame Vera Roza Nordell (OBE), Covent Garden, London.
SINGING - Touring with the British singing couple Anne Ziegler and Webster Booth, performing in a variety of operettas, musicals and recitals. She performed lead roles in Operas Samson and Delilah (Saint Saens), Carmen (Bizet) and as a young singer, she understudied Joan Carlyle as Mimi in La Boheme (Puccini) for CAPAB at the Nico Malan Opera House in Cape Town. Some lead roles in Oratoriums include Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater and Mendellsohn’s Elijah (mezzo part).
VIDEO DIRECTING – For the SABC (South African Broadcasting Corporation).
ACTING - Leads in stage productions such as Shakespeare's “Macbeth” and “Twelfth night”, the Greek tragedy “Iphigenia in Aulis” by Euripides and “Yerma”by Garcia Lorca. Her television performances include “Klagstaat” for Dirk de Villiers and “Die ryk weduwee” for Jan Prinsloo. Her freelance radio career included various drama series under direction of Robert Young, Paul Eilers and Jan Prinsloo.
WRITING - Music Dramas such as “Downtown Marabi”, “The cry of Winnie Mandela”, “Jesus the Crucified” and “His Name is Jesus”. She is also known for her short Biblical plays of which the cycle “The Teachings of the Master” is the most popular. Her stage versions of the short story “Diary of a madman” by Nikilai Gogol and same title by Guy de Maupassant were performed successfully in the Pretoria. Her most recent Music Play is the Zulu Tragedy “Thula Thulani” which was written for a client in Eastern Europe.
STAGE DIRECTING - Amongst stage productions directed by her, were shows such as the Music Drama “The cry of Winnie Mandela”, the Music Drama “Down Town Marabi”, the stage adaptation of Guy de Maupassant's “Diary of a madman”. She also directed the Passion play “Jesus the Crucified”, the Christmas Play “His Name is Jesus” and the full Liturgical cycle “The Teachings of the Master”.
DRAMA COACHING – She taught and coached many young and upcoming actors in the arts of Breathing Techniques and Voice Production, Resonance and Projection Movement Study Improvisation Interpretation Development of Poise and Self-confidence in the young actor.
COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT - Nymph has 27 years’ experience in Community Development work as facilitator of various projects in Johannesburg and Pretoria. For the City of Tshwane and Local Government she did skills development with young people from a disadvantaged background, prisoners and street children to help talented youngsters to establish a career in the Performance Arts.
VEGANISM AND ANIMAL RIGHTS - Nymph’s ultimate passion is Animal Rights Advocacy. She is active in social media (Facebook, LinkedIn, Pinterest) in posting news, educational information and collecting signatures for petitions at various authentic websites. She writes and directs short plays for performances at High Schools and short street performances. Some of her clients are Mrs Alexia Trombas, CEO of Southern African Fight for Rhinos and Mrs. Sarah Silverstone, founder of United Against Animal Poaching.
MUSIC AS A HEALING AGENT – Nymph was leader in a four-year investigation and double-blind research project on the effect of music as a healing agent at the Garden City Clinic in Johannesburg (1991-1995). Research was done on patients under adequate anaesthesia (The effect of Music on patients under Adequate Anaesthesia - Kellerman et al 1995). The success rate in pain reduction and speeding up of recovery period was as high as 80%. (Statistics done by Dr.Jackie Galpin, University of the Witwatersrand 1995).
ALTERNATIVE HEALTH TECHNICQUES – She presents workshops in Breathing Techniques, Meditation and Relaxation, Visualization and Vocal Toning as healing agents.
