Years of experience in leadership have made him adept at working with numerous stakeholders to achieve goals.
He earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Alberta, the same province he chose to make his home.
Education, organization, and prioritization have helped him acquire the skills necessary to manage projects and mitigate issues.
In addition to his university studies, Marc is a certified drone pilot and Alberta trapper who earned his Environmental Monitoring Certificate through the University of Northern British Columbia and is currently working toward his graduation and Beaver Institute Professional Training Certificate of Completion from the Beaver Institute, in order to become a professional beaver control specialist.
His work in environmental monitoring and wetland restoration is not only important, but also the culmination of years of interest and study.
As for the specialization in beaver-human conflict mitigation, his initial introduction to the plight of beavers and landowners occurred when his property required professional intervention due to the activities of beavers. Marc was determined to find a creative solution, when some landowners might be tempted to simply remove and/or exterminate the creatures. This pursuit launched him into a unique and rewarding career path.
He finds purpose from being able to to generate effective measures for property owners while minimizing the loss of life to beavers and maximizing the health of lakes, rivers and streams.
When Marc becomes a Beaver Institute graduate and joins the Beaver Corps, he will be capable of conducting site visits and assessments and introducing creative solutions to landowner issues. These include the use of exclusion fencing, flow devices and removal. In addition to an understanding of conflict mitigation methods, he is also gaining in-depth insight into beaver behavior and habitat, and their roles in nature.
All of this knowledge will help him protect properties while fostering the integrity of watersheds. He is thrilled to safeguard land, wildlife, and water.view less
