Catolic services and initiation ceremonies for the young
Dearest and precious friends and family,
Our amazing and powerful God has a dream. That dream we claim
is you and me. In His perfect love and communion with
His Son and The Holy Spirit, He decided to include us.
That was His plan from the beginning and it continued to
be even after men made his wrong and selfish decision. It
looked that God’s dream was destroyed. In spite of all we
live today the reality of His continuous love, knowing that
His dream can never die. He came in the flesh to live
among us. His death not only saves us but shows us the
way to live our lives: giving away love even when we
don’t receive it back. His plan for us to live in the
communion with Him, in His perfect love, to be like His
Son, is fulfilled through you and me and daily we desire
to include others in this “communion”. That was the
purpose and theme of the youth conferences this year we
held in different parts of the country. We preached and
taught about God’s plan in their lives and how they can
find their place in Him.
This year we included in our team Bruno and Abednego.
Abednego is a teenager from our youth group, friend with
Bruno and one of the worship leaders. We could see that
he was growing spiritually a lot this year so this trip was a ambassadors there. Abdul and Lucas are doing an
reward and a great life lesson for him. The same was for
Bruno. We pray and believe that they will be able to
replace us in the future, continuing the work with even
more anointing.
Macomia
It is a place with people with mixed culture, language and
religion; macua and maconde tribes are living together
speaking at least 3 important dialects: Macua, Maconde
and Swahili. Macua are mostly muslims and maconde are film there were more than 800 people watching and
generally catolics. Abdul and Lucas (our missionaries
there) were there for 3 weeks only. The chief gave them a
place to live and to hold meetings - under a big tree which
is actually used for at least 2 more other kind of meetings: altar call.

We had
to plan
and
strategize
different
than
another
places as
we were in a new territory. The catolics are very strong
and they certainly didn’t welcome us. Every morning we
divided in groups and programs changed each day. Others
went to evangelize house to house; others stayed at the
camp for the “visitors” and the curious; Diogo and Bruno
took the responsibility to play and minister to the young
guys; Leidi taught the girls and I had the kids and enjoyed
ministering to maconde and macua ladies. They have
strength and abilities that other ladies from the other
tribes don’t have. And are very involved in all kinds of
ceremonies and traditional practice. The Word of God
only has the power to break their strong will and
stubbornness. In a week we had people that received
salvation. We prayed for healing and we believe God did
something great in this time. Some of the youth received
great opposition when they went home and told about
their decision to follow Jesus. Their parents were denying
any truth and challenge to live a new life as they were
holding tide on their old religion. Sunday we had our first
meeting. Slowly people were showing up. At the end we
had at least 8 adults and lots of kids that gave their lives
to Jesus. There is lot of work now left for our
amazing job. It was a pleasant surprise to see Lucas
growing so much, interested and involved for the change
of these precious people. Of course that we had our
adventure one of the nights when we showed “Jesus
film”. The place is called Chinavane, few kilometers
from Macomia. The majority there are muslims and this
was the first time when they watched the film. It was ok
until we started to teach the kids some songs. The older
ones came around fast and started to disturb. During the
Praise God they were mostly quite, so everybody could
see how Jesus lived and died for each one of us. The
commotion started right after when Agostinho did the
A great multitude of adults and children just came upon
us and they were screaming, completely against
everything Agostinho was saying. They didn’t want us
there anymore, telling us to never come back. It was a
first for me. I guess that for the ones who showed the film
in North already many times it is something usual but I
never saw something like this neither in South or the
Center of Mozambique. In all that chaos they were able to
still the generator. The kids were screaming: thief,
thief…. The guys from our team run in all directions, in
the dark trying to find our generator, the chief and police
came and started the search. I am sure that everything was
well planed before as we found out the next morning that
the police nephew was one of the thieves. Next morning
at 6 am we had back our dear generator and everything
was all right. We pray and watch much more after that. I
Praise God for the people who heard the Gospel there for
the first time and I believe it was a good beginning for the
work that ambassadors will do in that region.
Cuamba
On our way to Cuamba my car
broke. Susana had to go ahead
with the teachers to start the
youth conference in Cuamba and
me, Dora and Bruno went to
Nampula. After another
adventure (driving a car that was
tall robed) I had my car fixed
next day for lots of money.
We got in Cuamba at the end of
the first day conference. The
meetings were held in the Cinema building. The
ambassadors there gave away 400 invitations for the
youth. Till the last day we had only 80 youth coming. It
seems that this number of participates is very high there.
The churches are empty and their small congregations are
working very isolated and not collaborating between
them. We had lot of youth from Afrika Wa Yesu Church.
And their challenge is to reach with love to all youth from
Cuamba. We have a powerful group of graduates from the
Bible School there. It seems that after a long winter spring
is coming to that place. There is life coming from this
small group that is reaching to the whole community. The
conference was for 4 days. It gave us time to teach,
minister and encourage the ones who participated. This
was the first of many other youth conferences that will be
held in the future in this place. I believe that God will
make a difference in this region through this young
generation. Tradition, strongholds, selfishness and
religious spirit are broken in Jesus Name!

Through
Pastor
Goncalves
we have 5
churches
there; 4 men graduated our Bible School from there. The
last one Urias since he went back home is revolutionizing
the place.
We had all 5 churches together for 2 days: teaching the
leaders, ministering to the members of the church; one
day we had only youth and children. Some of them who
came from far were there with us day and night, being
hosted in the church. Last night we showed “Jesus film”.
They have a hunger for the truth, a desire to know God
that makes easier our job: teaching and preaching.
In Milange we went straight for 3 days conferences. This
was the second after we had one last year. It is always a
blessing and time for learning for us when we are with
these people. Pastor Goncalves and his leadership teach
us every time humbleness and servant hearts through
their own example. Around 185 kids came from all over
Milange. Like usually some of them walked entire day
long distances to get there. The church organized the
food, accommodation for all of them. We just had to
preach and teach non stop. As it was our last place, after
almost a month of travel and giving away we were
getting little tired. This was when the Holly Spirit took
complete control and we saw clearly that it wasn’t
anything of us but it was from Him all it was giving to
these kids. It was a huge difference between what we saw
last year. The ones that participated last year surely were
growing in the spirit. What an encouragement for us! One
night around the fire some of them started to pray and
praise God like never before. For sure they understood
that God has a plan for their lives and that plan is a
blessing!
Thank God for His amazing plan for each one of us.
Somehow He tides us together with the same vision and
passion for the lost, for the people!
I thank Him for each one of you, for your love,
faithfulness, compassion and hard work. Thank you for
believing in me, in what we are doing in this time in
Mozambique. At the end of this year I lift up before our
Father each one of you and I am so grateful! May God
reward and continue in His blessings and protection over
you and your special families!
