RESIDENCY REQUIREMENTS
Students can register in the county where they reside if: You live in a dormitory or off-campus housing You intend to stay for the time being OR if you are temporarily leaving the state, you plan to return Have an out-of-state drivers license? You can use it as your official photo ID to vote.

HOW DO I REGISTER?
In person at any of the following locations.
Public Library County Clerks Office County Election Commission Department of Health Department of Human Services Department of Mental Health Department of Safety Department of VA Register of Deeds Offices

By mail
Download a voter registration application from the Tennessee Secretary of State website, www.tn.gov/sos/election/ and mail to your local county election commission.

WHAT DO I NEED?
A new law passed by the Tennessee legislature requires a PHOTO ID to vote. Acceptable IDs:
State Issued IDs Drivers license, photo ID, state employee ID Federal ID Passport, federal employee ID Military ID - Any other photo ID issued by a state or federal government

What about my student ID?


Student IDs are NOT acceptable. If you dont have any of the above AND you are registered to vote in Tennessee, visit your local Drivers Service Center to get a photo ID for FREE. Find the closest center by calling 615.251.5166 or visiting www.tn.gov/safety.
