Queens Diamond Jubilee Awards
Mayor Kerry Cook and Cariboo Chilcotin MP Dick Harris presented three Queens Diamond Jubilee Awards to Williams lake residents, including Councillor Surinderpal Rathor. Audrey MacLise and Bill Reid were the other recipients. All were recognized for their commitment to community service.

HandyDART Expansion Approval


Council approved an additional 110 hours of handyDART service, including service on Saturdays, between October 1 and December 31, 2012 at a net estimated cost to the municipality of $3,500. BC Transit was able to provide a cost-sharing contribution of $3,900 to the expanded service hours. The cost of the additional hours in 2013 will be incorporated in the 2013 annual budget and the 2013/14 Annual Operating Plan.

Sign Bylaw Requirement Complaint


Council recommended the Sign Bylaw be amended to seek voluntary compliance with the General Guidelines of the Official Community Plan as it refers to the Cariboo Theme. Council will hold a special meeting on Wednesday, Sept. 5 to consider the bylaw amendment, and will hold a public consultation session on September 18 at 7 p.m. Council had received a complaint over complying with the Cariboo Theme component of the Sign Bylaw, which requires the use of timber, rocks, or other natural products.

Salvation Army Request for Use of Borland Street Parking Lot


Council approved the use of the parking lot at the corner of Third Avenue and Borland Street by the Salvation Army for their Rally Day on Saturday, September 16, 2012 from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. The day will feature games, music and a concessions stand. The event runs from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Request for Letter of Support for Nurse Practitioner Clinic


Council received a letter from Thompson Rivers University - Williams Lake campus requesting a letter of support for their provincial funding application fort a Nurse Practitioner clinic. Council will provide a letter of support. The university proposes to establish a Nurse
