The lasting benefits of detoxification and internal cleanses are becoming well-known and acceptedin part, because these practices are more vital than ever for optimal health and longevity and in the fight against environmental and dietary toxins. Christopher Vasey shows how accumulation of toxins is the primary cause of illness and how the key to successful detoxification is identifying the type of toxineither colloidal or crystallinepolluting your biological terrain. He explains how colloidal toxins hinder circulation and organ function, while crystals move around the body damaging tissues and causing lesions and pain. Left unchecked, the two forms can combine to create stonessuch as gallstones or kidney stones. Beyond finding the cause of an illness, the most important reason to correctly diagnose your type of toxin is to ensure you choose the most effective method of detoxification and stimulate the appropriate excretory organliver, intestines, kidneys, lungs, or skin. For example, a person seeking to purge his system of crystals should increase his fluid intake to stimulate the kidneys not encourage bile production, because crystals cannot be expelled via the liver. With clear, practical instructions and guidance, Vasey explains how to identify which type of toxin is triggering your illness and which medicinal herbs, hydrotherapy techniques, or nutritional options are the best choice for each specific condition or combination of ailments. He reveals which foods produce colloidal and crystalline toxins and should therefore be avoided. This targeted method of detoxification enables each of us to cleanse our bodies of accumulated toxins safely, accurately, and successfully. Christopher Vasey, N.D., is a naturopath specializing in detoxification and rejuvenation. He is the author of The Acid-Alkaline Diet for Optimum Health, The Naturopathic Way, The Water Prescription, The Whey Prescription, The Detox Mono Diet, and The Healing Power of Fever. For our ancestors the whole world was alive with spirits. The Gods bubbled forth from rivers and springs and whispered in the breezes that rustled through cities and farms. The ground underfoot, the stones, the fire that cooked the food and drove off the darkness, these all had spiritsnot just spirits in some other dimension, but spirits in them who could be spoken to and allied with. In todays world we are led to believe that the spirits long ago went silent and that spiritual wisdom can only be gained through established religious doctrine. Providing a guide for opening two-way conversation with the spirits of daily life as well as direct communication with the Gods, Kenaz Filan and Raven Kaldera explore how to enrich your spiritual path with personal gnosisasking your Guides for assistance or teachings and receiving a response. They explain how to develop your sensitivity to the voices of the Divine, discern genuine spiritual messages from the projection of internal psychodrama, and what to do (and not do) with the messages you receive. Confirming their own personal gnosis with Northern Tradition Pagan beliefs and Greco-Roman, Celtic, Egyptian, and indigenous hunter-gatherer lore, the authors discuss how to avoid theological conflicts when someones personal gnosis differs from that of their Pagan group as well as how to authenticate messages with individual and group divination. Offering practices and principles for seekers and groups, they reveal that the spirits never went silent, we simply forgot how to hear them. Kenaz Filan (Houngan Coquille du Mer) was initiated in Socit la Belle Venus in March 2003 after 10 years of solitary service to the lwa. Filan is the author of several books, including The New Orleans Voodoo Handbook, and coauthor with Raven Kaldera of Drawing Down the Spirits. Filan lives in Short Hills, New Jersey. The Power of Ecstatic Trance

Practices for Healing, Spiritual Growth, and Accessing the Universal Mind
NICHOLAS E. BRINK, Ph.D.
A guide to ecstatic trance for spiritual and emotional development, spirit journeying, and connection to the collective unconscious
Describes more than 20 ecstatic trance postures for healing, divination, spirit journeys, shape-shifting, past-life recovery, and connecting to the Akashic field Explores the physiology and psychology of ecstatic trance journeying Provides guidance for those with little or no experience as well as methods to deepen practice

Over the millennia shamanic trance journeying has been used as a way of healing, of providing answers to questions, and of offering solutions to individual, family, and community problems. Though traditionally it was the shaman of the community who went on such journeys, the revolutionary work of the late anthropologist Felicitas Goodman shows that we all have these shamanic powers. Her research on the body postures found in ancient primitive art and in the practices of contemporary shamans offers each of us the ability to experience ecstatic trance journeys firsthand. A student of Felicitas Goodman and Belinda Gore, psychologist Nicholas Brink examines more than 20 traditional trance postures for divination, decision making, letting go of guilt and grief, healing of illness and emotional pain, spirit journeys, shape-shifting, interacting with animal spirits and the dead, and discovering past lives. Exploring the physiology and psychology of ecstatic journeying, he offers guidance for those with little or no experience as well as methods for longtime practitioners to deepen their practice and reclaim the extrasensory power of our ancient ancestors. Offering solid theories of how ecstatic trance triggers healing and spiritual development, Brink explains how trance journeying allows us to tap in to the collective unconscious, or Universal Mind, and access the information matrix of the Akashic field. Nicholas E. Brink, Ph.D., is a psychologist who has maintained a private clinical practice since 1977. He is board certified by the American Board of Professional Psychology, on the board of directors of the International Association for the Study of Dreams, and a past president of the American Association for the Study of Mental Imagery. A certified teacher of ecstatic trance with the Felicitas Goodman Institute, he lives in Coburn, Pennsylvania.

All cultures haves stories of the First People, the Old Ones, our prehistoric forebears who survived the Great Flood and initiated the first sacred traditions. From the squat gods of Mexico and Peru to the fairy kingdom of Europe to the blond pygmies of Madagascar, on every continent of the world they are remembered as masters of stone carving, agriculture, navigation, writing, and shamanic healingand as a hobbit people, no taller than 31/2 feet in height yet perfectly proportioned. Linking the high civilizations of the Pleistocene to the Golden Age of the Great Little People, Susan Martinez reveals how this lost race was forced from their original home on the island of Pan (known in myth as Mu or Lemuria) during the Great Flood of global legend. Following the mother language of Pan, Martinez uncovers the original unity of humankind in the common roots of key words and holy symbols, including the scarlet biretta of Catholic cardinals, and shows how the Small Sacred Workers influenced the primitive tribes that they encountered in the post-flood diaspora, leading to the rise of civilization. Examining the North American mound-culture sites, including the diminutive adult remains found there, she explains that these stately mounds were not burial sites but the sanctuaries and homes of the Little People. Drawing on the intriguing worldwide evidence of pygmy tunnels, dwarf villages, elf arrows, and tiny coffins, Martinez reveals the Little People as the real missing link of prehistory, later sanctified and remembered as gods rather than the mortals they were. Susan B. Martinez, Ph.D., is a writer, linguist, teacher, paranormal researcher, and recognized authority on the Oahspe Bible with a doctorate in anthropology from Columbia University. The author of 3 books, including Time of the Quickening, she is the book review editor for the Academy of Spirituality and Paranormal Studies. She lives in Clayton, Georgia.

Before Atlantis
20 Million Years of Human and Pre-Human Cultures
FRANK JOSEPH
A comprehensive exploration of Earths ancient past, the evolution of humanity, the rise of civilization, and the effects of global catastrophes
Explores biological evidence for the aquatic ape theory and 20-million-year-old evidence of pre-human cultures from which we are not descended Traces the genesis of modern human civilization to Indonesia and the Central Pacific 75,000 years ago after a near-extinction-level volcanic eruption Examines the profound similarities of megaliths around the world, including Nabta Playa and Gobekli Tepe, to reveal the transoceanic civilization that built them all

Exploring emerging and suppressed evidence from archaeology, anthropology, and biology, Frank Joseph challenges conventional theories of evolution, the age of humanity, the origins of civilization, and the purpose of megaliths around the world. He reveals 20-million-year-old quartzite tools discovered in the remains of extinct fauna in Argentina and other evidence of ancient pre-human cultures from which we are not descended. He traces the genesis of modern human civilization to Indonesia and the Central Pacific 75,000 years ago, launched by a catastrophic volcanic eruption that abruptly reduced humanity from two million to a few thousand individuals worldwide. Further investigating the evolutionary branches of humanity, he explores the mounting biological evidence supporting the aquatic ape theorythat our ancestors spent one or more evolutionary phases in waterand shows how these aquatic phases of humanity fall neatly into place within his revised timeline of ancient history. Examining the profound similarities of megaliths around the world, including Nabta Playa, Gobekli Tepe, Stonehenge, New Hampshires Mystery Hill, and the Japanese Oyu circles, the author explains how these precisely placed monuments of quartz were built specifically to produce altered states of consciousness, revealing the spiritual and technological sophistication of their Neolithic buildersa transoceanic civilization fractured by the cataclysmic effects of comets. Tying in his extensive research into Atlantis and Lemuria, Joseph provides a 20-million-year timeline of the rise and fall of ancient civilizations, both human and pre-human, the evolutionary stages of humanity, and the catastrophes and resulting climate changes that triggered them allevents that our relatively young civilization may soon experience. Frank Joseph was the editor in chief of Ancient American magazine from 1993 until 2009. He is the author of several books, including Atlantis and 2012 and Advanced Civilizations of Prehistoric America. He lives in the Upper Mississippi Valley.

Energy Medicine Technologies

Ozone Healing, Microcrystals, Frequency Therapy, and the Future of Health
Edited by FINLEY EVERSOLE, Ph.D. Foreword by Karl Maret, M.D.
New and suppressed breakthroughs in energy medicine, ways to combat toxins and electromagnetic fields, and the importance of non-GMO foods
Explores the use of microcrystals, ozone and hydrogen peroxide therapy, and how to tap in to healing antioxidant electrons from the Earth Reveals the scientifically proven health risks of genetically modified foods Examines the suppressed cancer-curing electromedicine of Royal Raymond Rife and Nobel laureate Albert Szent-Gyrgi

Natural, nontoxic, inexpensive, and effective alternatives to conventional medicine exist, yet they have been suppressed by the profit-driven medical-pharmaceutical complex. Presenting a compendium of some of the most revolutionary yet still widely unknown discoveries in health and energy medicine, this book edited by Finley Eversole, Ph.D., explores the use of microcrystals to harmonize the energies of body, mind, and environment; the healing effects of ozone and hydrogen peroxide therapy; ways to combat electromagnetic fields and environmental toxins; sources of disruptive energy that cause stress and health problems, including other peoples negative emotions; and how to tap in to healing antioxidant electrons from the Earth. The book reveals the scientifically proven health risks of genetically modified foodsthe first irreversible technology in human history with still unknown consequences. It looks at the link between industrial farming and the precipitous rise in heart disease, cancer, diabetes, and Alzheimers over the past 100 years, providing a 10-point Low-Toxin Program to reduce your risk. It explores the cancer-curing electromedicine of Royal Raymond Rife and its suppression by the medical establishment as well as Nobel laureate Albert Szent-Gyrgis follow-up discovery of Frequency Therapy. Offering a window into the holistic future of medicine, the book shows the body not simply as a biological machine to be patched and repaired but as a living organism made up of cells dynamically linked to their inner and outer environments. Finley Eversole, Ph.D., was executive director of the Society for the Arts, Religion and Contemporary Culture from 1966 to 1969, collaborating with Joseph Campbell and other visionaries. The author of Art and Spiritual Transformation and editor of Infinite Energy Technologies, he lives in Birmingham, Alabama.

Healing Lyme Disease Coinfections

Complementary and Holistic Treatments for Bartonella and Mycoplasma
STEPHEN HARROD BUHNER
A guide to the natural treatment of two of the most common and damaging coinfections of Lyme diseaseBartonella and Mycoplasma
Reveals how these conditions often go undiagnosed, complicate Lyme treatment, and cause a host of symptomsfrom arthritis to severe brain dysfunction Outlines natural treatments for both infections, with herbs and supplements for specific symptoms and to combat overreactions of the immune system Reviews the latest scientific research on Bartonella and Mycoplasma coinfections and how treatment with antibiotics is often ineffective

Each year Harvard researchers estimate there are nearly 250,000 new Lyme disease infectionsonly 10 percent of which will be accurately diagnosed. One of the largest factors in misdiagnosis of Lyme is the presence of other tick-borne infections, which mask or aggravate the symptoms of Lyme disease as well as complicate treatment. Two of the most common and damaging Lyme coinfections are Bartonella and Mycoplasma. Nearly 35 million people in the United States are asymptomatically infected with each of these pathogens, and at least 10 percent will become symptomatic every yearwith symptoms ranging from arthritis to severe brain dysfunction. Distilling hundreds of peer-reviewed journal articles on the latest scientific research on Bartonella, Mycoplasma, and Lyme disease, Stephen Buhner examines the complex synergy between these infections and reveals how all three can go undiagnosed or resurface after antibiotic treatment. He explains how these coinfections create cytokine cascades in the bodyessentially sending the immune system into an overblown, uncontrolled response in much the same way that rheumatoid arthritis or cancer can. Detailing effective natural holistic methods centered on herbs and supplements, such as the systemic antibacterial herb Sida acuta, which acts to protect blood cells from invading organisms, he reveals how to treat specific symptoms, interrupt the cytokine cascades, and bring the immune system back into balance as well as complement ongoing Lyme disease treatments. Stephen Harrod Buhner lectures throughout the United States on herbal medicine, the sacredness of plants, and the intelligence of nature. His other books include Healing Lyme, The Secret Teachings of Plants, and The Transformational Power of Fasting. He lives in Silver City, New Mexico.

A pioneer in the field of visionary plant research, he was one of the first people to suggest the use of entheogens for psychological healing and spiritual growth. His insights into the consciousness-expanding effects of psychedelics as well as human nature, the psyche, and the nature of reality earned him a reputation as a mystical scientist and visionary philosopher. This bookHofmanns last work before his death in 2008 at the age of 102offers the acclaimed scientists personal experiences and thoughts on chemistry, the natural sciences, mind-altering drugs, the soul, and the search for happiness and meaning in life. Hofmann explains different methods of pharmaceutical research based on traditional plant medicine and discusses psilocybin, the active compound in psychedelic mushrooms that he discovered. He examines the psychological role of psychoactives, their therapeutic potential, and their use in easing the life-to-death transition. Sharing a different side of the father of LSD, one known only to his friends and close colleagues, this book also includes the poetry of this mystical prophet of psychedelic science. Albert Hofmann (19062008), the father of LSD, was a world-renowned scientist, member of the Nobel Prize Committee, Fellow of the World Academy of Sciences, and member of the International Society of Plant Research and of the American Society of Pharmacognosy. The New Science of Psychedelics

At the Nexus of Culture, Consciousness, and Spirituality
DAVID JAY BROWN
What does the future hold for humanity, and can psychedelics help take us there?
Shares insights from the authors discussions with Terence McKenna, Edgar Mitchell, Rupert Sheldrake, Deepak Chopra, Candace Pert, and others Investigates the role of psychedelics in lucid dreaming, sex and pleasure enhancement, morphic field theory, the survival of consciousness, encounters with nonhuman beings, and the interface between science and spirituality

David Jay Brown holds a masters degree in psychobiology from New York University. A former neuroscience researcher at the University of Southern California, he has written for Wired, Discover, and Scientific American, and his news stories have appeared on The Huffington Post and CBS News. A frequent guest editor of the MAPS Bulletin, he is the author of several books including Mavericks of the Mind and Conversations on the Edge of the Apocalypse. He lives in Ben Lomond, California.

DANIELLE DEBRUNO

For as long as humanity has existed, we have used psychedelics to raise our levels of consciousness and seek healingfirst in the form of visionary plants such as cannabis and now with the addition of human-created psychedelics such as LSD and MDMA. These substances have inspired spiritual awakenings, artistic and literary works, technological and scientific innovation, and even political revolutions. But what does the future hold for humanityand can psychedelics help take us there? Sharing insights from his discussions with luminaries such as Terence McKenna, Edgar Mitchell, Candace Pert, Deepak Chopra, Andrew Weil, Jerry Garcia, Albert Hofmann, Annie Sprinkle, and Rupert Sheldrake, author David Jay Brown explores the revelations brought about through his psychedelic experiences and his work with visionaries of the psychedelic and scientific communities. He investigates the role of psychedelics in lucid dreaming, time travel, sex and pleasure enhancement, morphic field theory, the survival of consciousness after death, encounters with nonhuman beings, and the interface between science and spirituality. Examining the ability of psychedelic drugs to incite creativity, neurogenesis, and the evolution of consciousness, he explains that they are messengers from the plant world designed to help elevate our awareness and sense of interconnectedness. Revealing not only what psychedelics can teach us about ourselves and the world around us, Brown also shows how they are preparing humanity for a future of enlightened minds and worlds beyond our solar system.

MOONFIRE STUDIOS

Birds are our strongest allies in the natural world. Revered in Native American spirituality and shamanic traditions around the world, birds are known as teachers, guardians, role models, counselors, healers, clowns, peacemakers, and meteorologists. They carry messages and warnings from loved ones and the spirit world, report deaths and injuries, and channel divine intelligence to answer our questions. Some of their signs are so subtle that one could discount them as subjective, but others are dramatic enough to strain even a skeptics definition of coincidence. Pairing scholarly research with more than 200 firsthand accounts of bird encounters from traditional Native Americans and their descendants, Evan Pritchard explores the living spiritual tradition surrounding birds in Native American culture. He examines in depth the birds known as the gatekeepers of the four directions Eagle in the North, Hawk in the East, Crow in the South, and Owl in the West including their roles in legends and the use of their feathers in shamanic rituals. He reveals how the eagle can be a direct messenger of the Creator, why crows gather in Crow Councils, and how shamans have the ability to travel inside of birds, even after death. Expanding his study to the wisdom and gifts of birds beyond the four gatekeepers, such as hummingbirds, seagulls, and the mythical thunderbird, he provides numerous examples of everyday bird sign interpretations that can be applied in your own encounters with birds as well as ways we can help protect birds and encourage them to communicate with us.

With more than 250 original full-color photographs, Michael Tellinger documents thousands of circular stone ruins, monoliths, ancient roads, agricultural terraces, and prehistoric mines in South Africa. He reveals how these 200,000-year-old sites perfectly match Sumerian descriptions of Abzu, the land of the First Peopleincluding the vast gold-mining operations of the Anunnaki from the 12th planet, Nibiru, and the city of Anunnaki leader Enki. With aerial photographs, Tellinger shows how the extensive stone circle and road complexes are laid out according to the principles of sacred geometry and represent the remains of Tesla-like technology used to generate energy and carve immensely long tunnels straight into the Earth in search of goldtunnels that still exist and whose origins had been a mystery until now. He reveals, with photographic evidence, that the human civilization spawned by the Anunnaki was the first to create many totems of ancient Egypt, such as the Horus bird, the Sphinx, the Ankh, and large pyramids, as well as construct an accurate stone calendar, at the heart of their civilization, aligned with the Orion constellation. He explores how their petroglyphs, carved into the hardest rock, are nearly identical to the hieroglyphs of Sumerian seals. Mapping thousands of square miles of continuous settlements and three urban centerseach one larger than modern-day Los AngelesTellinger provides the physical proof of Zecharia Sitchins theories on the Anunnaki origins of humanity. MARGARET DE WYS
Understanding ecstatic spirit possession for physical and spiritual healing
Details the authors direct experiences working with Brazilian miracle healer John of God (Joo de Deus) and African high shaman Credo Mutwa Includes stories of psychic surgery, spirit possession, and shamanic healing rituals Explains how each of us is capable of miraculous healing

Margaret De Wys first became aware of ecstatic trance healing when she was a young girl fascinated by the rapture of the Holy Rollers. However, it would be decades before she would be called to explore that early fascination. At a gathering in Upstate New York thirty years later she was spontaneously possessed by a sacred Zulu necklacea gift from one of the most powerful shamans in Africa, Vusamazulu Credo Mutwa. Frightening yet exhilarating, the experience set her on a search to understand the depths of ecstatic healing. Margaret journeys to Brazil to work with famous healer John of God (Joo de Deus), where she witnesses hundreds of miraculous healings through psychic surgery. During her years of spiritual service at Johns Casa, she experiences ecstatic visions, which increase her hunger for more knowledge. She begins to attend possession rituals held by Pai Lazaro, an Umbanda priest, and finds she is a natural medium to the African gods. Called through her dreams to work with Credo Mutwa, she travels to Credos Healing Village in Africa, where she discovers her gift as an ecstatic healer and the meaning of true faith. In sharing her journey to reach a profound understanding of ecstatic states and shamanic healing, Margaret De Wys not only gives the reader a direct experience of holiness but also reveals the potential each of us has for miraculous healing. Margaret De Wys is a composer and sound installation artist whose works have been performed at venues including the Museum of Modern Art and the Whitney Museum. She has traveled extensively and worked closely with traditional healers throughout the world. Currently working with John of God (Joo de Deus) in Brazil and at Omega Institute in New York, she also takes groups to the Ecuadorian Amazon to work with the shaman who healed her of breast cancer. The author of Black Smoke, she divides her time between Upstate New York and Southeast Nigeria.

The world is changing. The transition from the mechanistic worldview to one that recognizes the interconnectedness of all life is upon us. It is the dawning of the Akashic Age. The Akashic field that connects the universe is now recognized by cutting-edge science. What we know about communication, energy, and consciousness is rapidly evolving in tandem with the new quantum worldview. Many adults are consciously evolving to meet the transitional challenges at hand, while todays youth have arrived already hard-wired with the new consciousness. Rising from the ashes of the old systems, this Phoenix generation of radical change agents is seeding our evolution and spiritual transformation, a process that will continue over the next few decades. Authors Ervin Laszlo and Kingsley Dennis look at the chief engine of the coming changesthe growing global understanding of nonlocalityand the development of practical applications for it. They examine how the new values and new consciousness taking hold will reorganize society from top-down hierarchies into grassroots networks like those revealed through quantum physics understanding of energy and information waves and experienced daily by millions through social media. As the precessional cycle transits from Pisces to Aquarius, great shifts in spiritual evolution are on the horizonnot for all of humanity as many in the New Age movement have generously hypothesized but for those who have undertaken the necessary spiritual preparation and initiatory work. Drawing from his deep immersion in the Mystery traditions of both East and West, author J. S. Gordon investigates the initiatic path from ancient times to modern day, detailing the step-by-step process of initiation and the sequence from spiritual aspirant to the highest Adeptship. He explains the natural logic and characteristics of each stage of initiation, including the associated problems and psychological issues that need to be faced in order to move forward to the next stage. He shows how humanity is naturally inclined to spiritual evolution and the development of higher consciousness. We are part of the overall evolutionary process of Nature, a system guided by the most highly evolved Adepts and extending beyond Earth to the entire kosmos. Exploring the long history of the Mystery schools beginning with ancient Egypt, Babylonia, and India, Gordon examines the sacred metaphors and allegories of esoteric philosophy, metaphysics, occult science, and the Science of the Seven Rays as well as the Adept-inspired theosophical works of H. P. Blavatsky and A. A. Bailey. He looks at the Adept Hierarchy of the Great White Himalayan Brotherhood and considers in detail two much-discussed mysteries: The Jesus-as-Christ mystery and the Maitreya-Buddha mystery. Revealing how advancementspiritual, scientific, and culturalerupts out of tension, he explains how the Adepts have been increasing local and global tensions to prepare humanity for the Age of Aquarius, thereby creating the ideal preconditions for spiritual evolution and an eventual restoration of the Mysteries in our own modern era. J. S. Gordon holds a masters degree in Western Esotericism from the University of Exeter and is a senior fellow of the Theosophical Society of England. He is the author of several books, including Egypt: Child of Atlantis. He lives in England.

Avicennas Medicine
A New Translation of the 11th-Century Canon with Practical Applications for Integrative Health Care
MONES ABU-ASAB, Ph.D., HAKIMA AMRI, Ph.D., and MARC S. MICOZZI, M.D., Ph.D.
The first contemporary translation of the 1,000-year-old text at the foundation of modern medicine and biology
Presents the actual words of Avicenna translated directly from the original Arabic, removing the inaccuracies and errors of most translators Explains current medical interpretations and ways to apply Avicennas concepts today, particularly for individualized medicine Reveals how Avicennas understanding of the humors corresponds directly with the biomedical classes known today as proteins, lipids, and organic acids

A millennium after his life, Avicenna remains one of the most highly regarded physicians of all time. His Canon of Medicine, also known as the Qanun, is one of the most famous and influential books in the history of medicine, forming the basis for our modern understanding of human health and disease. It focused not simply on the treatment of symptoms, but on finding the cause of illness through humoral diagnosisa method still used in traditional Unani and Ayurvedic medicines in India. Originally written in Arabic, Avicennas Canon was long ago translated into Latin, Persian, and Urdu, yet many of the inaccuracies from those first translations linger in current English translations. Translated directly from the original Arabic, this volume includes detailed commentary to explain current biomedical interpretations of Avicennas theories and ways to apply his treatments today, particularly for individualized medicine. It shows how Avicennas understanding of the humors corresponds directly with the biomedical definition of proteins, lipids, and organic acids: the nutrient building blocks of our blood and body. With this new translation of the first volume of his monumental work, Avicennas Canon becomes just as relevant today as it was 1,000 years ago. Mones Abu-Asab, Ph.D., is a senior scientist at the National Eye Institute of the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland. Hakima Amri, Ph.D., is associate professor of biochemistry and molecular and cellular biology at Georgetown University and cofounder and codirector of Georgetowns Complementary and Alternative Medicine Graduate Program. Good health depends on the free flow of life-force energy, chi, throughout the entire body. The accumulation of tensions in the muscles and tendons as well as the stagnation of negative energy can lead to blockages in the bodys energy channels, resulting in pain, low energy, or illness. In this full-color illustrated guide, Master Mantak Chia and William Wei detail massage techniques for unblocking chi, releasing tight tendons and muscles, and alleviating back and joint pain. The authors explore the 10 Thai energy meridians known as Sen Sib, the 12 muscle-tendon meridians of Chinese acupuncture, and the most commonly strained muscles and tendons of the spine, neck, and pelvis. They explain how to treat specific ailments, such as headache, stiff shoulder, or lumbar pain, with the traditional Thai massage technique known as Tok Sen, which uses a wooden hammer to send vibrational energy deep into the fascia and muscles along the Sen Sib meridians. This method is particularly effective for joint pain, because the vibrations can reach more deeply and accurately within the bodys structure than a massage therapists fingers. The authors also explain Meridian Detox Therapy, which includes cupping, skin massage, and Gua Shathe scraping of different parts of the body to clear blood stagnation, promote metabolism, and treat acute illness. The final book in the Chi Nei Tsang series, Chi Nei Ching offers advanced massage techniques to work with the energy meridians for optimum health. Mantak Chia, world-famous Inner Alchemy and Chi Kung master, founded the Universal Healing Tao System in 1979 and has taught and certified tens of thousands of students and instructors all over the world. Geometric symbols and signs have been drawn on the body to enhance strength and courage and stimulate the bodys powers of self-healing since prehistoric timesthe most ancient evidence being the 5,000-year-old iceman tzi, found in the Alps in 1991, who had symbols tattooed over his arthritic joints. Found in indigenous societies around the globe, symbols on the bodywhether drawn, painted, or tattooedact as energy antennae, triggering healing impulses in the energy body and meridian system. Exploring several simple methods to work with symbols for physical, emotional, and spiritual healing, Petra Neumayer and Roswitha Stark illustrate the key symbols used in this practice and reveal how to select the proper symbol or symbols for your condition. They explain how to use these signs directly on areas of pain and injuryfrom mosquito bites to eczemafor quick relief, on bandages to speed healing, and on acupressure points and meridians to treat more complex conditions. They explore the use of symbols to reduce scar tissue, counteract electromagnetic pollution, balance the chakras, and cleanse toxins from the body. The authors explain how, like homeopathic remedies, symbols transfer information through energetic vibration and morphic fieldsthe resonance between all living things, past and present, discovered by Cambridge biologist Rupert Sheldrake. They detail how to transfer the energy of a symbol to water, food, jewelry, or stones for long-term treatment and prevention. They also show how to heal animals and plants with symbols. Bringing together traditional Chinese medicine, quantum physics, dowsing, and homeopathy, this new yet ancient practice harnesses the power of symbols to initiate healing at the very foundation of our energetic being. Petra Neumayer is a medical journalist, course instructor on new homoeopathy, and author of several books in German on alternative and natural medicine. Roswitha Stark is a spiritual teacher and energy healer, specializing in new homeopathy and the healing use of symbols. She leads workshops throughout Europe. The authors live in Germany.

Restoring healthy posture from childhood for relief from chronic pain, easy flexibility, and enduring strength and vitality well into old age

Our bones are the framework of support for our bodies, much like the wall studs and beams of a house. Yet the alignment of the skeleton along the vertical axis of gravity is largely overlooked today, even by fitness experts and yoga teachers. In a culture of cocked hips, sauntering models, and slouching TV watchers, where chin up, shoulders back, stomach in is believed to be good posture, we have forgotten what healthy alignment looks and feels likeleading to chronic neck, shoulder, and back pain for millions. Sharing photographs from around the world of gurus of natural posture and authentic strength, such as women in their 80s who easily carry heavy loads on their heads and toddlers learning to walk, Kathleen Porter shows what natural skeletal alignment truly looks like. With insights based on the fundamental laws of physics and detailed full-color diagrams, she guides you through an understanding of the bodys naturally pain-free design. She explains that when the body is aligned as nature intended, your weight is supported by your bones rather than your muscles, allowing a blissful release from chronic muscular tensionwhich you may not even be aware you had. She offers 12 physical exercises to become mindful of your posture and discover healthy alignment of your pelvis, rib cage, shoulders, neck, and your body as a whole. Providing easy-to-follow instructions for mindful alignment during the most ordinary daily activities, even sleeping, as well as a chapter on practicing yoga safely, Porter shows how returning to our forgotten alignment from childhood can offer relief from chronic pain and tension and can provide easy flexibility, enduring strength, and vitality well into old age. Kathleen Porter is the director of the Center for Natural Alignment in Portland, Oregon. She offers programs for people with posture-related pain and for children and teachers in classrooms. She has taught principles of natural alignment at the University of Hawaii at Hilo, the National College of Natural Medicine in Portland, Oregon, and the Omega Institute in Rhinebeck, New York. The Future of Human Experience

Visionary Thinkers on the Science of Consciousness
J. ZOHARA MEYERHOFF HIERONIMUS, D.H.L.
Explores the future predictions of cutting-edge scientists, spiritual teachers, and other visionaries and how we can affect the future
Shares insights from the authors discussions with Larry Dossey, Dr. Mehmet Oz, Graham Hancock, Raymond Moody, Rupert Sheldrake, Zecharia Sitchin, Gay Bradshaw, Candace Pert, and many others Examines what these visionary thinkers foresee for humanity based on current trends in medicine, science, agriculture, history, and other disciplines Reveals how consciousness affects evolution and Earths future

For almost three decades Zohara Hieronimus has interviewed spiritual teachers, cuttingedge scientists, ancient wisdom keepers, laboratory-tested psychics, and other visionaries on their predictions for the near and far future. While the methods they use are significantly diverse, the similarities in their forecasts are striking. And, as Hieronimus reveals, one common theme resonates through them all: the power of human consciousness. Sharing insights from her discussions with Larry Dossey, Dr. Mehmet Oz, Graham Hancock, Raymond Moody, Rupert Sheldrake, Zecharia Sitchin, Gay Bradshaw, Candace Pert, and many others, Hieronimus explores what these visionary thinkers foresee for humanity based on current trends in medicine, science, agriculture, Earth history, robotics, and spirituality. She examines natural, extraterrestrial, and man-made events that dramatically altered humanitys course in the past or might in the future, revealing a recurring cycle of catastrophic Earth changes and rebirths of civilization over billions of years. The author explains that, as part of the energetic expression of Divinity, we can influence the impact of Earth changes through our actions and intentions. She shows that the consciousness of humanity has the power to affect evolution, enact healing on personal and global levels, and alter even natural systems such as the weather. By studying predictions across a broad range of disciplinesfrom nano-technology to plant intelligencefrom todays great minds and from ancient spiritual traditions, Hieronimus shows that we can significantly improve the long-term welfare of the Earth by unfolding our nonlocal consciousness, adopting a reverent attitude toward all life, and realizing how we do things is as vital as what we do. J. Zohara Meyerhoff Hieronimus, D.H.L., is an award-winning radio broadcaster, social justice and environmental activist, and professional artist. She hosted the national radio program Future Talk until 2008 and cohosts 21st Century Radio with her husband, Robert Hieronimus. She lives in Owings Mills, Maryland.

Why do we hang horseshoes for good luck or place wreaths on our doors? Why does the groom carry his new bride over the threshold? These customs represent the last vestiges from a long, rich history of honoring the spirits of our homes. They show that a house is more than a building: it is a living being with a body and soul. Examining the extensive traditions surrounding houses from medieval times to the present, Claude Lecouteux reveals that, before we entered the current era of frequent moves and modular housing, moving largely from the countryside into cities, humanity had an extremely sacred relationship with their homes and all the spirits who lived there alongside themfrom the spirit of the house itself to the mischievous elves, fairies, and imps who visited, invited or not. He shows how every aspect of constructing and keeping a house involved rites, ceremony, customs, and taboos to appease the spirits, including the choice of a building lot and the very materials with which it was built. Uncovering the lost meaning behind door and window placement, the hearth, and the threshold, Lecouteux shares many tales of house spirits, from the offerings used to cajole the local land spirit into becoming the domestic house spirit to the good and bad luck bestowed upon those who seek the help of the Little Money Man. He draws on studies and classic literature from old Europefrom Celtic lands and Scandinavia to France and Germany to the far eastern borders of Europe and into Russiato explain the pagan roots behind many of these traditions. Revealing our ancestors charms, prayers, and practices to bestow happiness and prosperity upon their homes, Lecouteux shows that we can invite the spirits back into our houses, old or new, and restore the sacred bond between home and inhabitant. Claude Lecouteux is a former professor of medieval literature and civilization at the Sorbonne. He is the author of numerous books on medieval and pagan afterlife beliefs, including The Secret History of Poltergeists and Haunted Houses. He lives in Paris.

Adaptogens in Medical Herbalism

Elite Herbs and Natural Compounds for Mastering Stress, Aging, and Chronic Disease
DONALD R. YANCE, CN, MH, RH (AHG)
A scientifically based herbal and nutritional program to master stress, improve energy, prevent degenerative disease, and age gracefully
Explains how adaptogenic herbs work at the cellular level to enhance energy production and subdue the pro-inflammatory state behind degenerative disease Explores the authors custom adaptogenic blends for the immune system, cardiovascular health, thyroid function, brain health, and cancer treatment support Provides more than 60 monographs on herbs and nutritional compounds based on more than 25 years of clinical practice with thousands of patients

Weaving together the ancient wisdom of herbalism and the most up-to-date scientific research on cancer, aging, and nutrition, renowned herbalist and clinical nutritionist Donald Yance reveals how to master stress, improve energy levels, prevent degenerative disease, and age gracefully with the elite herbs known as adaptogens. Yances holistic approach, called the Eclectic Triphasic Medical System (ETMS), is based on extensive scientific research, more than 25 years of clinical practice, and excellent results with thousands of patients. It centers on four interconnected groups of health tools: botanical formulations, nutritional supplements, diet, and lifestyle. Defining four categories for adaptogenic herbs, he explains how formulations should combine herbs from each category to create a synergistic effect. He provides more than 60 monographs on herbs and nutritional compounds as well as custom combinations to revitalize the immune system, build cardiovascular health, protect brain function, manage weight, and support cancer treatment. He explains the interplay of endocrine health, the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis, thyroid function, and stress in the aging process and reveals how adaptogenic treatment begins at the cellular level with the mitochondriathe microscopic energy producers present in every living cell. Emphasizing spirituality, exercise, and diet in addition to herbal treatments and nutritional supplements, Yances complete lifestyle program explores how to enhance energy production in the body and subdue the pro-inflammatory state that lays the groundwork for nearly every degenerative disease, taking you from merely surviving to thriving. Donald R. Yance Jr., CN, MH, RH (AHG), is a clinical master herbalist and certified nutritionist. He is the founder of the Mederi Centre for Natural Healing in Ashland, Oregon, the president and formulator of Natura Health Products, and founder and president of the Mederi Foundation. He lives in Ashland, Oregon.
