Field Trip Permission Slip for

Tsongas Industrial Museum in Lowell

On Thursday, January 24th Mr. Gees and Ms. Mattsons fifth grade classes will spend a day at the Tsongas Industrial Museum in Lowell, where we will have an opportunity to see what an authentic New England textile mill was like. This program, although a little bit ahead of where we are currently in our study of U. S. History, blends in nicely with the Social Studies curriculum and our study of how America moved from being a rural agrarian society to an industrialized nation. Students will have the opportunity to see a 19th century textile mill in operation as well as try their hands at building a model canal system, and discovering which types of water wheels work best. This program also dovetails nicely with the States Science curriculum. The cost of the trip is $20.00* which includes museum admission, and transportation. Students and chaperones must bring their own lunches as there are no restaurant facilities on site. If you are interested in being a chaperone for this trip please check off that you would be available. *Please do not send cash. Checks only made out Happy Hollow School
