Denver Police Capture Shooting Suspects

DENVER, CO Denver Police have arrested four individuals in North Denver. A fifth suspect was shot and pronounced dead at the scene. These individuals are believed to be responsible for numerous crimes throughout the Denver Metro Area. On Wednesday, January 16, 2013, members of the Denver Police Department received a dispatched bolo from the Thornton Police Department regarding several suspects that were wanted in connection with a domestic violence felony-menacing incident, involving a Red Dodge Pick-up with a named suspect. At approximately 3:15 p.m., in the vicinity of 42nd Avenue and Tejon Street, officers located a truck matching the description and attempted to make a traffic stop. An occupant of the vehicle immediately began firing a weapon at the officers and the driver refused to stop. A vehicle pursuit began and during the pursuit, numerous shots were fired from the suspect vehicle. One of the pursuing officers was struck by gunfire from the suspect vehicle. The pursuit continued until the suspects lost control of their vehicle in the area of 39th Avenue and Osage Street and crashed into a tree. Three suspects were taken into custody at the scene of the crash, a fourth suspect was pronounced dead at the scene, a fifth suspect then fled on foot but was eventually captured. Three suspects were transported to an area hospital and are being treated for various injuries. The officer was transported to Denver Health Medical Center where he was treated for a non-life threatening injury. Further information will be released pending further investigation. Suspect names or mug shots are not available at this time due to identification issues.
