CAUTION – VIOLENT OFFENDER / KNOWN TO BE ARMED AND


DANGEROUS.

On June 9, 1997, Officers responded to an address in Northwest Denver on a report of a


shooting. Upon arrival, officers learned that the victim, Federico Gutierrez (30), and the
suspect were having a conversation in a back bedroom. At some point, the two went into
a crawlspace area. While there, witnesses heard several gunshots. The suspect emerged
from the crawlspace carrying a handgun. Officers located the victim deceased from
apparent gunshot wounds inside the crawlspace. Information learned at the scene support
the suspect fleeing to Mexico after the shooting.
