SOCIO-DEMOGRAPHIC PROFILE OF CHILDREN IN CONFLICT WITH THE LAW(CICL)/ JUVENILES IN CONFLICT WITH THE LAW(JICL) CY 2007

CASELOAD A total of 105 CICL cases were handled by the Administration. Of the total cases, 79 were carry over from the previous year and 26 were new cases received in 2007 Region VII has the highest number of CICL cases handled recorded at 23 Closely followed by NCR at 22 cases The number of CICL cases handled for the year under review increased by 28.04% as compared to the 2006 figure.

AGE Greater majority of CICL cases (31 cases) were age 18 years old when they enter the probation, parole or suspended sentence systems. This is followed by age 17 years old recorded at 20 CICL cases.

GENDER 97 (92.38%) are male CICL and the remaining 8 (7.62%) are female. The ratio of female to male CICL is 1:12

CIVIL STATUS 94.28% or 99 CICL are single and the remaining 5.72% are either married (3 cases) or with common-law spouse (3 cases)

EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND Majority of the CICL (39 or 37.14%) are classified under high school undergraduate 32 or 30.48% CICL are elementary undergraduate which ranked second in the distribution of CICL by educational attainment

NATIONALITY All of the CICL handled by the Agency are Filipinos.

NUMBER OF CHILDREN Greater majority (93.33% or 98 ) of the CICL have no children. 3.81% (4 CICL) have one child; 1.90% ( 2 CICL) have two (2) children; and 0.96% (one CICL) has four (4) children

OCCUPATION 38.10% (40) of the CICL have no occupation Those who have occupation primarily belong to Group V (Service Workers and Shop and Market Sales Workers ) recorded at 35 CICL, Group IX (Laborers and Unskilled Workers ) at 18 CICL; and Group VI (Farmers, Forestry Workers and Fishermen) at 12 CICL

CRIMES COMMITTED Crimes against property garnered the highest percentage share recorded at 35.24% (37 CICL). Crimes relative to opium and other prohibited drugs ranked second pegged at 29.52% (31 CICL)

EXTENT OF PARTICIPATION IN THE CRIME 92.38% or 97 CICL admitted that their criminal responsibility is principal.

STATUS OF THE CASE 96.19% or 101 CICL are under probation 2.86% or 3 CICL are under suspended sentence and only one CICL is on parole

LENGTH OF SUPERVISION PERIOD The highest recorded distribution for the length of supervision period is 1-2 years with 56 CICL. 3-4 years supervision period ranked second with 26 CICL and 5-6 years supervision period ranked third with 13 CICL.
