Technical Director Davidson College Department of Theatre Davidson, North Carolina The Davidson College Department of Theatre invites applications for a full-time, permanent Technical Director. Duties include: serve as the TD for all departmental productions; schedule, supervise and train 6-10 work-study students and supervise student production crews; budget all scenic elements of productions and facilities maintenance; manage scene shop; create technical drawings; supervise construction, load-in, light hang, and focus; maintain departmental performance and work areas; maintain equipment, inventories and facilities; serve as lighting designer for 1 main-stage show; design or supervise lighting and sound for 2-4 second-stage productions and class projects; provide input on play selection and budgeting; other design work with compensation is possible depending on candidates skills. Requirements: MFA in appropriate discipline 2-5 years of technical theatre experience Strong leadership, collaboration and communication skills lighting design experience, working knowledge of sound and projection design master carpentry and rigging skills demonstrated proficiency with CAD drafting and other design software Basic welding skills Digital media skills a plus Supervisory experience required, experience in an educational setting preferred Start date: July 1, 2013 (negotiable) Submit a detailed cover letter including your interest in the position, a resume, and names and contact information for three current references (including email addresses) to: _____________.
