Post-Game Quotes
ATHLETICS MANAGER BOB MELVIN: Thoughts on the 10 inning? With the day off I was going to use [Balfour] for two innings. We had a couple guys who werent available and hes our best pitcher. Not the situation hes used toat least on the roadhes used to coming into tie games at home. I decided we were going to go with our best guy going into the day off. The strikeout-wild pitchwhat does that do? Well it gets a guy on, the first guy on. Other than it it would have been another out. It just trickled away from him; I dont know if the throw was good it would have beaten him or not, so it contributed to it. What do you think of the road trip overall? Wasnt a very good one for us. We didnt expect to go 2-5, but not much we can do about it now. Just take the day off, recharge, and come back out on Tuesday and play our best baseball. On Ibanez: Hes done that before in his career. You gain some confidence too when you hit a home run off a tough left hander last night. The first one I dont know if we got it in far enough. the second one looked like it was a good pitch down, he just went down and golfed so hes seeing the ball pretty well.
