ENERGY CONSERVATION
'.'l
-'
With the need Jor Energy Conservation, in the development of higher efficiency lamp sources have been, and are still being made. These sources. which produce higher lumen output per watt of energy used and give longer lamp life, all require ballasts, resulting in higher initial cost of equipment, but save e ectrical consumption over their extended life. At times these ballasts can be incorporated into the Jixture but often because of insufficient roonr it becomes necessary to mount the ballasts remotely in crawl space obove the ceiling, if avajlable. Reflectors must also be incorporated to obtain the most efficient d stributron patterns. The lamps are also more costly, but because of their longer life and reduced rnaintenance cost tor rep acement, this differential is somewhat reduced. lncandescent lamps shown in this cata log have an average lamp life of 2000 hours, whereas the new more efficient sources have lanrp lives of trom 7000 to as high as 24000 hours. Si.nce church lighting is not used as extensively as some other types of general lighting, we es tjmate that the 2000 hour life of incandescent lenrps, based upon an average equipment use of about 10 hours per week, would project an average lamp life of approxinrately 3 to 4 years before lamp replacement becornes necessary. With the same average weekly use with the more efficient lamp sources, this would result in 12 years ot more of use before lamp replacernent becomes necessary. A decision then becomes necessary to determine whether the longer lamp life, the lower main tenance costs to replace lamps, and lower energy costs outweigh the higher initial equipment cost and higher lamp costs for their lifiited use- ln some cases, replacenlent of the incandes cent lamping with these more etficient lanrp sources can result in 50 to 60% reduction in wattage with a 10 to 55% increase in lumen output, and a 3 to 10 times longer lamp life. Color quality is also an impor-tant consideration. Some energy saving lamps do not have the best color quality tor church lighting, and though development in new lamp sources is continuing, at present it is necessary to combine various lamp sources presently available to obtarn the best final results at minrmum cost. All units ill this catalog are avallable with energy efficient lamp sources, but an increase in equipment cost, and cost of Jamps in the area of about l5 to 20o% should be anticipated. Be cause of the continiring developments we can engineer and propose the appearance design of your choice, equipped with the fiost recent larnp sources, and based upon your specific needs, we can submit a lamping suggestion and quotation upon your special request enclosing a set
