Revolution not a Coup

The Second, people-led Revolution 2013

I took the picture

The people who went down where FOUR times those who went against Mubarak and his regime in 2011

Estimates by Google Earth 32 million people

Egypts independence day

On the eve of Independence Day in the U.S., the skies over Cairo evoke images of 4th July celebrations. Fireworks are erupting and crowds are roaring in jubilation in Tahrir Square, as the military has announced the ouster of Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi, a year after he took office.

What the Western World said about us

12 million people elected Morsi, so he is the first elected civilian President in Egypt, any attempt to overthrow him is not democratic. In the western advanced countries and in democracies there are other democratic and civilized ways of getting rid of an ineffective leader This is a coup d'tat by the military against an elected president.

Important questions
Is it a coup or is it a revolution? Could Egyptians have changed the MB rulers via the known democratic means of representative democracies ie through elections?

Is this the Mubarak regime and its thugs trying to regain power through the military?

One year Harvest

After overthrowing Hosni Mubarak, 12 million Egyptians elected Mohammed Morsi. Unexpectedly, Morsi pursued authoritarian rule, promoted Islamisation and rejected social pluralism.

Not an inclusive Government or Regime

Morsi stacked the government with Muslim Brotherhood members, and refused to work with members of other parties since his election. The countrys economic woes have deepened under his leadership, with unemployment rates soaring, food prices doubling, power outages rolling, and fuel shortages driving many Egyptians to despair.

Morsis urged an Islamist parliament to draft and pass the countrys foundational document in a matter of days. Minority groups, including the countrys Coptic and evangelical Christians, warned that the rushed constitution represented a major threat to minorities by potentially enfourcing Islamic law into public life.

Threatening independent Media

45 media public figures accused legally by the President himself of insulting the president Four main indpendent TV channels and their owners harrassed by authorities Allowing 17 religious and MB supported TV channels to use hate language and inciting followers against christians, women and shiites with no prosecution

Rigging of elections and referendums

So how do we justify what happened

The Economist magazine recently described Mr. Morsis electoral dictatorship as zombie democracy. Such a democracy looks like the real thing because it has elections, but in truth is no more than a hollow shell going through the motions. Without democratic governance, power sharing and checks and balances on executive authority, the whole exercise amounts to little more than a sham.

What is democracy?
A true democracy should emerge during elections and grow after elections. Elected governments should respect the people and in addition to paying back the people, they should also fight for more supporters. With tolerance and generosity, the governments should patch up the cracks formed during elections and restore national unity.

What is democracy?
Democracy is a form of government in which all eligible citizens participate equallyeither directly or through elected representativesin the proposal, development, and creation of laws. It encompasses social, economic and cultural conditions that enable the free and equal practice of political self-determination.

The origin : direct democracy

Several variants of democracy exist, but there are two basic forms, both of which concern how the whole body of all eligible citizens executes its will. One form of democracy is direct democracy, in which all eligible citizens have direct and active participation in the decision making of the government.

The rule of the people

Athenian democracy meant also : people through the assembly, and courts of law controlled the entire political process and a large proportion of citizens were involved constantly in the public business.

And that is what we did

32 million people went to the streets and chanted and called for the army to come to our rescue Given the experience of attacks and violence by the MB and its supporters against peaceful demonstrations and given also the vocal threats by the MB leaders and their preachers in a conference held by Morsi two weeks before the D-day, the people of Egypt sought out the army and hundreds of thousands went to the ministry of defense and asked them to protect our revolution .

Egypts direct democracy

The experience of Egypt could be taken as a lesson for emerging democratic countries. Elected governments should not think that they could do whatever they want after winning the election and prioritize their own wills while constructing a new dynasty.
