8. At 298 K, the reaction: N2 (g) + O2(g)  2NO (g) has a KP = 4.35x10-31. A) What are the
equilibrium pressures of the three components when the atmospheric partial pressures of
O2 (0.210 atm) and of N2 (0.780 atm) are put into an evacuated 1.00-L flask. B) What is the
PT in the container? C) Find the KC for this reaction at 298 K

9. Consider the following reaction: 3Fe(s) + 4H2O(g)  Fe3O4(s) + 4H2(g) KC = 5.1 at 900oC. If
0.050 mol of water vapour and 0.100 mol of solid iron are placed in a 1.0-L container, how
many grams of Fe3O4 are present at equilibrium?

10. For the equilibrium H2S (g)  2H2 (g) + S2 (g) KC = 9.0 x 10-8 at 700oC, the initial
concentrations of the three gases are 0.300 M H2S, 0.300 M H2, and 0.150 M S2. Determine
the equilibrium concentrations of the gases.

11. Given: 2SO2 (g) + O2 (g)  2SO3 (g), KC = 1.7x108 at 600 K

a. At equilibrium, PSO3 = 300 atm and PO2 = 100 atm. Calculate PSO2.
b. 0.0040 mole of SO2 and 0.0028 mole of O2 in a 1.0-L container and raises the
temperature to 1000 K. At equilibrium, 0.0020 mole of SO3 is present. Calculate KC and
PSO2 for this reaction at 1000 K.

12. When 0.100 mole ofCaCO3 and 0.100 mole of CaO are placed in an evacuated sealed 10.0-L
container and heated to 385K, PCO2 = 0.220 atm after equilibrium is established:
CaCO3 (s)  CaO (s) + CO2 (g)
An additional 0.300 atm of CO2 is then pumped into the container. What is the total mass
(in g) of CaCO3 after equilibrium is re-established?
