Taking a Closer Look at Actual Performance

Indicators

1. Produce a media-rich digital story
about a significant local event based on
first-person interviews. (1,2,3,4)
I think it would be a great idea for students to
create a claymation on a local football or
baseball game using modeling clay,
iStopMotion, PhotoBooth, and GarageBand.
Students will be put into groups with each
group working on the interview that will guide
the section of the game (i.e. first period) they
have to animate.
2. Use digital-imaging technology to modify
or create works of art for use in a digital
presentation. (1,2,6)

 Groups will be assigned players from the different teams,

which they will then have to make out of clay. After all the
pictures are taken for the claymation the students will
upload them onto PhotoBooth. Each group will also be
assigned parts to read to narrate the story of the game.
These excerpts will be taken from the interviews of people
who went to or watched the game. They will then record
those excerpts into GarageBand. Students can then compile
all the pictures and sound into iStopmotion where they can
put everything together to complete their claymation.
5. Identify and investigate a global issue and
generate possible solutions using digital tools
and resources (3,4)
I think researching the global economic
meltdown in 2008 on the internet, and then
analyzing and proposing a solution in a short
essay written in Microsoft Word would be a
good assignment. Students would explore
tools of information finding on the internet
and learn and practice word processing skills.
9. Debate the effect of existing and
emerging technologies on individuals,
society, and the global community.
(5,6)
Also, I think it would be great idea to make a
lesson plan where student debate current
technology issue’s through an internet forum I
would create for them. Students would have
a topic once a week where I would post a
current technology issue and a question on
that issue, and the students would comment
through the forum.
