09/14/09 Claims as approved by the Sac City Council
September 14, 2009 Sac City Council
Call to Order

Mayor Barb Powell called the

September 14, 2009 Sac City Council meeting to or-
der. Roll call found Councilman Jim Johnston absent.
Present were Councilmen Brian Muska, Bill Brenny,
Jim Frederick, and Gary Hansen. Also present were
Chief of Police John Thomsen, City Clerk Sandy
Tellinghuisen, 1 city employee, and 2 media.

The claims to the right were approved without

discussion during the meeting. There were items that
bore discussion, but that discussion took place before
the meeting.

Admittedly, in the case of certain city council

members, there was probably no need to pre-inform
them, because they have not met a dollar in city
spending for which they could vote no. Jim John-
ston’s copy of the claims sat in front of his empty seat
for the entire evening… just as they have 11 times
previously this year.

Before the meeting, Brian Muska announced that his

company was reassigning him and that he will be
moving any time between now and 1 year from now.

City is no closer to being brought down. Nobody
wants to assume the financial liability should
removing it effect the structural integrity of the
surrounding buildings.

At the September 14, 2009 Sac City Council meet-

ing, Councilman Bill Brenny expressed the desire
to seek out Mr. Wunschel and have a face to face
with him to see if he can be reasoned with. City
Administrator Adam Ledford told Mr. Brenny that
he would attempt to set up a meeting.

Downtown curb damage discussed

Three times in two Sac City Council meetings the de-

teriorating condition of the downtown curbs has been
discussed. At issue specifically are the curbs in front
of the Cattle Club, and Boyington hardware. Accord-
ing to City Administrator Adam Ledford, at least one
of the businesses is interested in redoing the sidewalk
and would like the city to repair the curbs simultane-
ously.

The Sac City Council took no action in regards to this

issue at the September 14, 2009 City Council meet-
ing.

Providing sanitary Sewer for PSF may cost
100k more than originally thought

At the September 14, 2009 Sac City Council meeting,

councilman Brian Muska asked City Administrator Adam Led-
ford where we stand in regards to Pure Sense Filtration, (PSF)
committing to Sac City.

According to Mr. Ledford, PSF has officially expressed interest

in the property, meaning the industrial park in Sac City. Mayor
Barb Powell reported that PSF was originally interested in all of
the vacant land in the industrial park, but is now only interested
in about half of the area.

In a quote from the Sac Sun published on August 18, 2009

Shirley Phillips said that the architects were, “…working on
the building already.” In spite of this claim, Mr. Ledford is
under the impression that the architects have not finalized any
plans, and that if there is any ground breaking it will not be until
spring.

Additionally, it may cost as much as $160,000.00 to provide

PSF with a sanitary sewer system. Due to the elevation, the
area in question will require a grinder pump as opposed to a
