Mollys Magazine

Framing a shot, including and excluding elements as appropriate

Minimal Level 1 10-23 Marks

Basic Level 2 24-35 Marks

Proficiency Level 3 36-47 Marks I feel all the shots are framed in the models outline well, the editing is a good standard, and it doesnt make it look lost on the pages.

Excellence Level 4 48-60 Marks

Using a variety of shot distances as appropriate

The shot distances are all mid shots, and the body language is the same on two of the three images in this magazine which doesnt include versatility. The model is appropriately dressed for the pop genre, and has the natural beautiful/airbrushed look all pop stars do. The clothing and lighting is of an exceptional standard for this particular genre. The cropping of the images and erased background works well, however the sizings of the images need to be altered to reduce negative space. The language register is good, however to improve, additional pop jargon should be used.

Shooting material appropriate to the task set

Selecting Miseen-scne including colour, figure, lighting, objects and setting Manipulating photographs as appropriate to the context for presentation, including cropping and resizing Accurately using language and register

Appropriately integrating illustration and text

Showing understanding of conventions of layout and page design

I feel that there is too much negative space, and therefore there is no integration of image and text. The cover and contents needs a different layout or design to keep it looking busy and aesthetically pleasing to the audience. The use of different fonts works for this magazine, as well as the logo style, however to improve sizing of the font should be enlarged in places. The use of newest photo shop software allowed molly to create this magazine to a good standard. To improve use PagePlusXP on DPS.

Showing awareness of the need for variety in fonts and text size

Using ICT appropriately for the task set

Summary Comment: Overall I would mark this magazine at the moment borderline Level 2/3. I feel that the double paged spread is clearly the strong point of this magazine and the cover is the weakest. I feel there is too much negative space for a pop magazine which wont attract the audience through its aesthetic which means that it has a lower chance of selling to if it was busy and look more presentable. The image on the cover is too small, and the lack of columns on the contents decreases the professionalism of the product, and reduces the stereotypical aesthetics.
