Notes:
3. Capacity of non-classroom facilities (ie. Special Education, Art, Music, LRC, etc) are not in calculation.
4. Dissimilar enrollments by grade-level could have a significant effect on actual overall capacity. Study does not
accommodate an anomaly in class size.
2. Only core classrooms are counted in elementary school building capacity. Break-out classes/spaces do not directly
increase capacity.
5. SPSF = Students per Square Foot
1. Calculation is based on current space use.
6. The capacity calculated for use of teacher's aide assumes an aide may be integrated into grade 1-5 classrooms. The high
range of E.C., Pre-K, Self-Contained SE, and Kindergarten students are then included in the total capacity shown in this
column.

Notes:
The high
range of E.C., Pre-K, Self-Contained SE, and Kindergarten students are then included in the total capacity shown in this
column.

**Some utilize typical classroom size spaces, others utilizes smaller spaces
Notes:
4. Capacity of non-classroom facilities (ie. Special Education, Art, Music, LRC, etc) are not in calculation.
7. Multi-Cultural Center has not been considered in determining capacity of middle school.
6. SPSF = Students per Square Foot
2. Calculation for specialized Instruction Spaces is based on current space usage.
5. Dissimilar enrollments by grade-level could have a significant effect on actual overall capacity. Study does not
accommodate an anomaly in class size.
3. Only core classrooms are counted in middle school building capacity. Break-out classes/spaces do not directly
increase capacity.
1. Calculation for core classrooms assumes the International Baccalaureate has been implemented for all grades
and consists of (8) teams with (5) core classes per team. Calculation also includes (1) Self-Contained SE per grade
level and (1) Self-Contained D.D.P.

BEYE Elementary
Schedule and Space Use Concerns
a
Typically three (3) Home Rooms per grade - this year only (2) Kindergarten and (4)
Third Grade. This will be a problem next year when the typical (3) Kindergartens return
b Art Classroom room is accessible only through the Home Ec Room
c Previous Home Ec room is dedicated to Hepzibah and not used for instruction
d
Classroom 309 is a challenge - to get correct SF for classroom need to use entire
space but one end needs to be clear for circulation/egress, so the room is smaller
than a typical classroom
e
Would like to have lockers removed from old locker room and utilitze better for
storage
f
Space in the School Office area is used as spill over classroom for testing, speech and
language, music, etc.
g
Classroom 200 is used to handle pull out instruction with no other home - but next year
this space will go back to Kindergarten leaving no home for this instruction again
h Instrumental Music Lessons taught at Stage
i
Penthouse students use bathrooms on 2nd floor to avoid circulating through classroom
pod and room 309 in particular

HATCH Elementary
Schedule and Space Use Concerns
a
Classroom 112 is located at the old locker rooms - students have to enter the space
through an office. This is not necessarily to code
b
Would like to have showers removed from old shower rooms and utilitze for storage
more effienciently
c Spanish is taught from a cart
d Hepzibah has storage in Multi-Purpose Room at all times
e Instrumental Music Lessons are taught at Stage

&**?"?)'&@ ?'A)#B&"?)'
Schedule and Space Use Concerns
a Not enough men's staff toilets
b Teacher's Aide used in Kindergarten Rm 113 due to class size
c Gym and Art overflow in Multi-Purpose Room plus (4) lunch periods
d
Hepzibah storage in multi-purpose room - concern that this plus lunch table storage in
the same room poses as a hazard for PE classes held in room
e
The Early Childhood Clsrm and OP/PT room 104 is inefficient in its current layout.
Would like to explore options that may create another classroom space if it were laid
out more efficiently
f
Gifted Room 211 has no windows so it is not used for a classroom - used for pull-out
space so no one but teacher is in a room without windows all day
g
Spanish has a dedicated room because this room is smaller than others so not big
enough for full-size class

LINCOLN Elementary
Schedule and Space Use Concerns
a The only accessible entrance to auditorium is from exterior
b
Classrooms 209 and 211 - difficult layout for students to see teaching wall given its long
and narrow configuation (two classrooms created from a once larger space)

LONGFELLOW Elementary
Schedule and Space Use Concerns
a
Multi-Purpose Room is full each lunch period - not much room for more students
without having to create a 4th lunch period
b Short on student lockers - 5th grade utilizes lockers on the 1st and 2nd floor
c
(5) 5th grade sections and just under 100 kindergarten students - on the brink of having
to add another section - not enough space without changing space uses
d
Sheduleing is a challenge with traveling teachers due to only using the Multi-Purpose
room space for the travelers
e Short on storage in the classrooms - science stores their kits in the hallway

MANN Elementary
Schedule and Space Use Concerns
a There is no accessible access to stage
b
The locker rooms are not used - would like to repurpose for storage - also these toilet
rooms are not used much
