)han$ you for your question, for it is one that often comes u%& .irst / listen to your heart&&0ou read his boo$, A$tobiography o& a Yogi and 1fell in lo e with the ama+ing 2uru, 0ogananda&3 )hat is wonderful4 )hat is a %recious gift to feel that connection with the Master4 5wami *riyananda often mentioned that 5han$aracharya, the great Master who li ed many centuries ago in India, said that the greatest blessing in all the three worlds/the causal, the astral, and the %hysical uni erses/is the guidance of a true guru& 5o it is im%ortant in these matters to $ee% a sense of s%iritual %riority& )here is another saying from the teachings of India, 1(hen a lower dharma 6right action7 conflicts with a higher dharma, it ceases to be a dharma&3 5o, as you tra el this 8ourney of disci%leshi%, let that be your guide& )here is another quote from 'aramhansa 0ogananda that hel%ed me ery much, after I had come out of a time of s%iritual testing! 1/he greatest (ira!le is when the de'otee no longer says 4" want what " want % b$t instead says 4" want what Yo$ want &or (e.-% (hat is remar$able about that statement is that he says 1the de otee3,not the worldly man, etc& 'resumably the de otee, by definition, is one who is see$ing 2od and true disci%leshi%, 5o this im%lies it is fairly common for %eo%le to want to 1qualify3 their terms of disci%leshi% in the beginning& It also e9%lains why :aba8i originally said that *riya 0oga was only going to be for those disci%les who would dro% e erything and see$ 2od alone& ;ahiri Mahsaya as$ed him to soften his stance, and so it was, .ollow the highest instincts of your s%iritual heart, and -e will guide you& I thin$ at this stage, sim%ly as$ for the 2uru<s grace, if you were e er inwardly gi en the guidance to gi e u% the =ei$i / that you would be able and willing to follow that guidance, .or he would only as$ that of you to gi e you something e en better& I %racticed =ei$i I > II many years ago, and at a certain %oint I felt guided that I should %ray that the =ei$i initiation be re o$ed, so I could be %urely an instrument of healing through the grace of our line of 2urus& I had to ta$e it as a 1lea% of faith3, and I %rayed %owerfully for it to be remo ed& I did not $now what the outcome would be, but o ernight I felt a ery strong increase in both healing %ower and intuition, for now the 2urus could flow through me more directly& I go into it more here! 2od Is the Doer!
