Does technology persuade you to make important decisions in your life? Does technology influence your decisions about the educational
choices that you make for your children? As a parent, how does data influence your decisions regarding the school your children will attend?
As an educator, how does the data influence the attitudes of the parents of the students you teach? As an educator, how does the ways our
schools are perceived influence the attitudes of staff members?

Take a look at the following collection of data regarding perception of certain middle schools in the Southeast area. Notice the current Math
and Reading MSA Scores, reviews of the schools from greatschools.net and websites for each school and then answer the following questions:

1) Greatschools.net claims that their ratings are based off of test scores, do their ratings seem appropriate given the test scores? Why or
why not? What might account for the discrepancy?
2) As a parent, which of these three sources would most influence your decision on where to send your child to school? Why? Is this
information accurate? How can you know?
3) As an educator, how do the perceptions of our school influence the climate of the building and the attitudes of staff members?
4) What steps can be taken to be off-set a poor perception of our schools by parents and the community?
