Long Beach, CA - May 28, 2014 - Former Long Beach City Attorney candidate Matthew Pappas has endorsed Robert Garcia for Mayor, Stacy Mungo for 5th District City Council and Lena Gonzalez for 1st District City Council. Commenting on the candidates, Pappas said, "Vice Mayor Garcia has proven to be a team builder. He is concerned about citizens and is an effective leader. Stacy Mungo has the integrity required to represent her 5th District constituents and Lena Gonzalez knows the 1st District and will serve its citizens well." Earlier this year, after refusing special interest money as well as endorsements, Pappas ran a grass-roots effort to win the office of City Attorney. Suprisingly, Pappas garnered nearly 20% of the vote after a heated primary campaign. Following the primary, Pappas endorsed Councilman James Johnson for City Attorney.
