HE 10 JULY PAY STRIKE SAW
the biggest coordinated action
against the Tories since 30
November 2011.
Now Unison, Unite and GMB have
named 14 October as the day of the next
national strike in local government.
Meanwhile weve seen more strikes in
PCS, continuing serious localised disputes,
such as Care UK where Unison members
have come out again for two weeks, and
FBU are striking for eight days in August.
Health workers across Unison, Unite and
GMB are balloting to join the pay strikes.
We need to build the YES vote in the
ballots and shape the strikes to be big,
active and politicised.
We need to start developing networks
that can begin create pressure on the
offcials for a strategy to win, and
organise to make sure we dont re-run
the N30 aftermath.
The Unite the Resistance national
conference on 15 November will be an
important part of this.
The industrial meeting is a vital
chance to take stock and charter the way
forwards in the coming months.
The meeting will also break down into
union fraction meetings, so comrades
can discuss issues particular to their
union. We will run a pooled fare for this
meeting to enable comrades to travel
from around the country.
This means that everyone pays 15
and is reimbursed for their travel.
The SWP Party Council is taking
place the following day on Sunday 21
September (see Party Notes or ask at
your SWP branch for details).
